Pete Holmes is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, actor, improviser, writer and cartoonist. You may know him from his crazy popular podcast You Made It Weird. His latest one-hour Comedy Central Special Nice Try, The Devilpremiered in May 2013, while his 2011 CD Impregnated with Wonder made several "Top Comedy Recordings" lists. He's also appeared on his own half-hour Comedy Central Presents special, Premium Blend, and was also featured on VH1's Best Week Ever. Pete has written for and voices multiple characters on Comedy Central's Ugly Americans and is the voice and writer of the popular "E*Trade Baby" commercials. Pete's digital shorts are featured regularly on CollegeHumor.com, Tosh.0, Atom TV and Atom.com. Keep an eye out for the new late-night talk show he'll host on TBS later this year, following Conan.

Bear Down was started by a group of wayward Chicagoans stuck in the bright desert of Los Angeles. To hide out from the sun, they created a podcast where all their comedian friends could come by and talk all things Chicago and all things football. On June 29th, 2012, thirty-three year old American Actress, (and fashion designer), Katie Holmes made a phone call to a film set in Iceland to speak with her husband, fifty year old American Actor Tom Cruise. This would be her first divorce and the third for him. Based on actual interviews, (and completely imagined scenes), seven actors portray 54 characters including Oprah Winfrey, David Miscavige, Matt Lauer, Scarlet Johansson, Josh Hartnett, Viacom Chairman Sumner Redstone, Cruise/Wagner Partner Paula Wagner, Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman and Suri. After selling out their entire run at Upstairs Gallery, (before even opening the show!), the cast of The Tomkat Project is excited as hell to bring a remount to UP Comedy Club.
Summer in The Second City
UP Comedy Club presents Summer in The Second City featuring a mix of The Second City's best sketch material from their archives and some hysterical Chicago-style improvisation. The show features cast members from The Second City Touring Company including John Hartman, Nicole Hastings, Adam Peacock, Pat Reidy, Sarah Shook and Emily Walker. Directed by Anthony LeBlanc.

UP Comedy Club is pleased to host the 60th reunion of the Playwrights Theatre Club (1953-1955). Chicago Tribune'sChris Jones will moderate a panel of original members including Ed Asner, Helen Axelrood, Rolf Forsberg, George Goritz, Zohra Lampert, Sheldon Patinkin, Bernie Sahlins, and David Shepherd, along with Joyce Piven, Caroll Sills and Joann Shapiro. The Playwright's Theatre Club led to the creation of The Compass Players and later The Second City.
