On Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 8:00pm at Kaufmann Concert Hall, 92nd Street Y presents Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and German violinist Carolin Widmann in her New York debut. Widmann takes the lead in Kurt Weill's showstopping Concerto for Violin and Wind Orchestra, Op. 12, which combines the composer's classical European pedigree with hints of the swinging Broadway style he would later adopt in full. Works for winds by Mozart bookend the Weill Concerto: a transcription of the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and the substantial, operatic Serenade No. 10 in B-flat Major, K. 361 'Gran Partita,' notably used in the popular film Amadeus.

On Friday, October 25 at 8:00 p.m., Music Director Valery Gergiev leads the Munich Philharmonic in Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No 1. with Behzod Abduraimov and Bruckner's Symphony No. 7. The following evening, Saturday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m. they return with Leonidas Kavakos playing Brahms's Violin Concerto. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) announced today that two new staff conductors will join the CSO in September 2019. Franc?ois Lo?pez-Ferrer will be the new Assistant Conductor for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival, and Wilbur Lin will be the new Assistant Conductor for the Cincinnati Pops and Conductor for the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra Philharmonic. They succeed Keitaro Harada and Gene Chang, whose successful tenures are completed this season.

The organisation's in-house label, Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings has signed a worldwide agreement with [PIAS] commencing March 1, 2019. The addition of the Berliner Philharmoniker's label complements the addition to [PIAS]'s label partnerships in 2018 of the in-house labels of the London Symphony Orchestra, the Choir of King's College Cambridge, and the St. Petersburg-based, Mariinsky Orchestra.

The trio, featuring siblings Christian Tetzlaff, violin, and Tanja Tetzlaff, cello, and Lars Vogt, piano, are touring North America for the first time in three years. A free pre-concert Prelude at 6:30 pm, which includes a complimentary glass of wine provided by The Henry Wine Group, features Classical KUSC's Brian Lauritzen in conversation about the evening's program with the artists.
