The 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center’s 2021-22 Mainstage Series continues on Thursday, December 16 with Michelle Dorrance, Dormeshia & Guests . It’s billed as an evening of tap but that understated description is unlikely to adequately cover what’s in store.

At a star-studded, sold-out performance held yesterday afternoon on the NJPAC stage, G. Thomas Allen was announced the winner of the 10th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. 

. Today’s leading artists gather on The Django stage to celebrate NEA Jazz Master Dr. Lonnie Smith in special back-to-back tribute concerts 12/9. Two leading pianists make their Django debut: Benito Gonzalez 12/3 followed by Orrin Evans 12/8 leading his new Brazilian project “Terreno Comun”.

Fifteen years ago, Flushing Town Hall started the wonderful tradition of welcoming to its stage renowned NEA Jazz Masters, a title bestowed on the world's greatest jazz musicians.

In-person and virtual audiences are invited to celebrate the 15th anniversary of this tradition with NEA Jazz Masters: The Music of Thelonious Monk and Horace Silver, two of the greatest pianists and composers in jazz history.

At the age of 92 and still going strong, singer-songwriter Sheila Jordan has been one of the most revered and utterly unique voices in jazz for decades.

NJPAC is welcoming live, in-person jazz back to its stage throughout 2021 beginning with Grammy Award-winning vocalist Gregory Porter (Sep 24). The TD Jazz Series continues in the Fall with 'Salsa Meets Jazz' (Sep 25), saxophonist Boney James (Oct 14), and vocal powerhouse duo Tierney Sutton and Ann Hampton Calloway (Oct 15).

 “Allons Enfants,” a Bastille Day celebration masterminded by Steve Ross and Jean Brassard, with special guests Karen Akers and Stephanie Biddle, which premieres on Wednesday July 14 at 8:30pm, is being forced to extend due to popular demand. 

The beloved East Village supper club Pangea, 178 Second Avenue, is filling its summer schedule with a number of new, on-going series in addition to its regular line-up of alt-cabaret stars. 

The beloved East Village supper club Pangea, which came perilously close to closing during COVID, is announcing a mixture of ticketed and no-cover entertainment during the summer.  The announcement comes as Pangea earns the prestigious Village Award, presented by Village Preservation at their 31st annual meeting on Wednesday June 16.

The innovative composer, bandleader, and trumpeter Bill Warfield is set to hit the stage with The Hell's Kitchen Funk Orchestra at the Keystone Korner, located at 1350 Lancaster St in Baltimore, MD on Sunday, March 28th, 2021 at 6:30PM.

2020 was a trying year for all of us, and pianist Yoko Miwa suffered more than her fair share of challenges. Like most musicians during this unprecedented pandemic, she suddenly found herself without the opportunity to perform. The recording of her new album was postponed and her trio's longtime home base, Les Zygomates Wine Bar & Bistro in Boston, closed its doors for good. Worst of all, her father passed away after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Notables from President Bill Clinton and Whoopi Goldberg to musicians Wynton Marsalis and Sting joined together on Sunday, Jan 24th to “Save Birdland”.  During the fundraising concert the Broadway community was treated to “All That Jazz” starring the original Velmas of Chicago, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth.
