Inaugural Season of New Mostly Modern Festival Features Eight Concerts

For its inaugural launch in June, Mostly Modern Festival (MMF), a new summer music festival that flips the traditional programming model by devoting most of its attention to the music of our time, will present eight concerts featuring an illustrious array of guest artists and ensembles, an orchestra largely made up of Mostly Modern Festival Institute (MMFI) participants, music by esteemed resident composers … and more than 30 brand-new works in world premiere performances by 30 MMFI participating composers (see list below).

Just last night, Seth Meyers brought Jesus Christ Superstar to life in 'Popsicle Schticks'. The parody starts off with a quick nod to the iconic song 'Superstar,' then moves on to 'What's The Buzz?'. However, the lyrics sound a little more like this: 'What's the schtick? Tell me, what's a popsicle?' and 'Why should you want a schtick? Don't you mind about the popsicle.'

383,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of March 5, 2018 based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. 'Nightline' beat CBS' 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' (1.278 million, 444,000 and 314,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+56,000), Adults 25-54 (+58,000) Adults 18-49 (+69,000).

Netflix is serving up another round of non-stop laughs with the second season of the hit of the Original comedy special series, 'The Standups,' featuring six 30-minute sets from six comic breakouts. Filmed live at the Globe Theatre in Los Angeles, 'The Standups' features the comedic talents of Rachel Feinstein, Kyle Kinane, Joe List, Brent Morin, Aparna Nancherla, and Gina Yashere. The new season of the comedy series returns March 20 on Netflix.

Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - will conclude their star-studded third season with Let's Misbehave: Cole Porter After Dark at the Orchestra's new home, Arena Stage at The Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth Street SW) on Saturday, May 19 at 8:00 PM. Majestic Repertory Theatre's artistic director Troy Heard announced the company's 2018-19 season today. Featuring seven productions in the MainStage lineup and two productions in the Backstage series, the season includes the world premiere of Amber Ruffin's ("Late Night with Seth Meyers") musical Bigfoot; the regional premiere of Rachel Bykowski's high school football drama Tight End; a full-scale immersive adaptation of Shakespeare's dark comedy Measure for Measure set in 1970s Las Vegas; the Las Vegas premiere of Lucas Hnath's mind (and tongue) twisting A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay about the Death of Walt Disney; intimate new stagings of the classic musical Cabaret, the adolescent angst rock musical Spring Awakening and Thornton WIlder's Our Town; the Vegas premiere of Matthew Lopez's Elvis-meets-drag queens comedy The Legend of Georgia McBride; and the world premiere of Heard's "Tales from the Crypt" tinged holiday thriller Krampus.
