Rochester Fringe Festival Reveals 2019 Lineup

Organizers of the 2019 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival (Tuesday, September 10 - Saturday, September 21) announced almost their entire lineup at this morning's BIG REVEAL press event. With more than 550 performances and events in 20+ Rochester venues over 12 days, it is one of the premier fringe festivals in the U.S., as well as the largest multi-arts festival in New York State.

3DaysPrior Kicks Off with ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD

Following an official launch party at The Silverlight Tavern, the newly-founded production company 3DaysPrior has announced its first endeavor- a production of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Performances will take place at The Upstairs Theater at Saint Paul's Church (334 South 5th Street) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The production will be directed by Rachel B. Karp, and star co-artistic directors Sydney Tennant (the upcoming film 'The Secret,' opposite Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas) and Ziggy Schulting as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

More Than 40 Actors Set For The Blank Theatre's 27th Annual Young Playwrights Festival

More than 40 actors have been set to participate in The Blank Theatre's 27th Annual Young Playwrights Festival. Twelve winning plays by young playwrights aged 14 19 from six different states will be presented during this year's festival at the YPF Pop-Up Playhouse in Hollywood, running from June 6 30.

Part awkward teen drama, part eerie sci-fi, Be More Chill with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and book by Joe Tracz, based on the 2004 young adult novel by Ned Vizzini, is one of the coolest, freshest comedic musicals in years. Today, Biffy Clyro share a brand-new track and video in the shape of “Balance, Not Symmetry,” the title track from the film of the same name, which Biffy frontman Simon Neil collaborated. The bands vocalist, guitarist and chief songwriter has co-written the film with director Jamie Adams. To accompany the film, Biffy Clyro wrote a full album of original material which will be released tomorrow, May 17.

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," has announced its 29th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the return of the wild, comic rock musical CRY-BABY,  which New Line first produced in 2012 in its American regional premiere, based on the John Waters film, running Sept. 26-Oct. 19, 2019; followed by the electrifying new rock musical fresh from Broadway, in its regional premiere, HEAD OVER HEELS, a high-energy, adult romp about gender and sexuality, based on a 16th century novel and using the songs of the pop group The Go-Go's, running March 5-28, 2020; and the season closes with the return of one of New Line's biggest hits, which the New Liners first presented in 2007, the pitch dark satire URINETOWN, the hilarious, outrageous fable of greed, corruption, love, revolution, and urination, running June 4-27, 2020.
