Local beer, donuts, bowling and the Bard will all come together as Shakespeare in the Streets heads to Maplewood this week (Sept. 16-18). This year's production, "Remember Me," will feature a mash-up of "Hamlet," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and "Macbeth," with a little "Romeo & Juliet" thrown in. All performances will begin at 8 p.m. on Sutton Boulevard, between Hazel and Marietta streets. 

The Cardigans. Radiohead. Everclear. Garbage. Desree's one good song. Butthole Surfers. The kid with that voice. Other songs you somehow knew all the words to. It's been 20 years since Baz Luhrmann turned the greatest love story ever told into the greatest soundtrack ever sold. So Tom Dickins & Co are throwing a party and you're invited.

The Chicago Philharmonic's 2016-17 season, Love, begins with a concert exploring 'Legendary Lovers' as depicted in music. Couples including Romeo & Juliet, Ruslan & Ludmila, and Tristan & Isolde all feature. Emily Birsan and John Irvin, Ryan Opera Center alumni recently heard at the Lyric Opera, sing duets by Verdi, Bernstein, and Gounod, and the orchestra performs symphonic works by Ravel, Wagner, Glinka, and Diamond. The Belle Harmonie harp duo, featuring Krista Hagglund and Anna Hirons of the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, will perform in the foyer before the concert.

Continuing its 2016-2017 Season, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) presents Romeo & Juliet, directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, and featuring STC Affiliated Artist Andrew Veenstra as Romeo and Ayana Workman as Juliet. Romeo & Juliet runs at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th St NW), September 13-November 6.

This just in! Carmen Pavlovic, CEO of Global Creatures, has announced that Baz Luhrmann's revolutionary film Moulin Rouge! will come to the theatrical stage as a new musical with a book by John Logan, directed by Alex Timbers.

It was announced today that Demian Gregory has come onboard to produce THE GOD FOUR, a feature film written and directed by Todd Komarnicki.

Four hundred years after the death of William Shakespeare, The Museum of Modern Art will screen 21 films based on his iconic writings in Breaking Bard: Shakespeare on Film, October 12-24 in The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters.

Along the Way Productions announces the company's inaugural project, BCC: Romeo&Juliet, will showcase Monday, September 26th at 7:30 PM at Stage 773 (1225 W Belmont). Granted funding support from Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Along the Way's Founding Artist Amanda Jane Long directs the experimental project.

Continuing nearly 10 years of unprecedented partnership with the National Park Service and Califonira State Parks, We Players will once again integrate a well-loved Shakespeare play into the environs of a national historic landmark. Audiences will enter a 360-degree sphere of performance as We Players blurs the boundary between audience and actor and history and the present, all on the spectacular grounds of Rancho Petaluma Adobe. Exquisite Corpse Company Presents New Performance and Art Installation Based on the work of Surrealist Painter, Rene Magritte. Exquisite Corpse Company, a Brooklyn-based, integrated performance art collective, presents a new performance and art installation called The Enchanted Realm of Rene Magritte, inspired by the work of surrealist painter, Rene Magritte. The show premieres August 6th, running every Today and Sunday through September 25, 2016 at House 17 at Nolan Park Governors Island in New York City.

Pulitzer Arts Foundation and Shakespeare Festival St. Louis present Love's Labor, an original work of theatre exploring the question of what makes and breaks a home, from August 19-21, 2016. Using a combination of scenes from some of Shakespeare's most iconic works, such as Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night's Dream, this play tells the modern-day story of a married couple on the brink of divorce, looking back at their thirty-year history together. Performed within three exhibitions on view at the Pulitzer-each relating to the material aspects of everyday life through radically different styles and mediums-the play unfolds gallery by gallery, bringing new life to the artwork on view.

John Leguizamo is proud to present The Q Brothers' Othello: The Remix, written, directed and composed by GQ and JQ, which will make its New York debut at the Westside Theatre (407 W. 43rd), beginning previews on Tuesday, October 25th and officially opening on Thursday, November 17th.

Prospect Theatre's inaugural production, Bradley Bredeweg's ingenious rock musical  ROMEO & JULIET: LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD, VOLUME 2, simply WOWS with its cast of triple-threat performers singing the hell out of cleverly-chosen pop songs while many times dancing up a storm. Creator Bredeweg tightly directs his high-energy troupe with a fast, smooth pace.

Prospect Theatre, a combination restaurant/bar/cabaret/theatre has just recently opened up in the heart of Hollywood.
