SHAKESPEARE IN THE STREETS in St. Louis!

Local beer, donuts, bowling and the Bard will all come together as Shakespeare in the Streets heads to Maplewood this week (Sept. 16-18). This year's production, "Remember Me," will feature a mash-up of "Hamlet," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and "Macbeth," with a little "Romeo & Juliet" thrown in. All performances will begin at 8 p.m. on Sutton Boulevard, between Hazel and Marietta streets.

The Chicago Philharmonic's 2016-17 season, Love, begins with a concert exploring 'Legendary Lovers' as depicted in music. Couples including Romeo & Juliet, Ruslan & Ludmila, and Tristan & Isolde all feature. Emily Birsan and John Irvin, Ryan Opera Center alumni recently heard at the Lyric Opera, sing duets by Verdi, Bernstein, and Gounod, and the orchestra performs symphonic works by Ravel, Wagner, Glinka, and Diamond. The Belle Harmonie harp duo, featuring Krista Hagglund and Anna Hirons of the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, will perform in the foyer before the concert.

Along the Way Productions announces the company's inaugural project, BCC: Romeo&Juliet, will showcase Monday, September 26th at 7:30 PM at Stage 773 (1225 W Belmont). Granted funding support from Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Along the Way's Founding Artist Amanda Jane Long directs the experimental project.

Exquisite Corpse Company, a Brooklyn-based, integrated performance art collective, presents a new performance and art installation called The Enchanted Realm of Rene Magritte, inspired by the work of surrealist painter, Rene Magritte. The show premieres August 6th, running every Today and Sunday through September 25, 2016 at House 17 at Nolan Park Governors Island in New York City.

Pulitzer Arts Foundation and Shakespeare Festival St. Louis present Love's Labor, an original work of theatre exploring the question of what makes and breaks a home, from August 19-21, 2016. Using a combination of scenes from some of Shakespeare's most iconic works, such as Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night's Dream, this play tells the modern-day story of a married couple on the brink of divorce, looking back at their thirty-year history together. Performed within three exhibitions on view at the Pulitzer-each relating to the material aspects of everyday life through radically different styles and mediums-the play unfolds gallery by gallery, bringing new life to the artwork on view.
