Boyd Gaines to Direct Bucks County Playhouse's THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE, Summer 2013

Bucks County Playhouse has announced that Charles Busch's Tony Nominated play The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, directed by four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines will be the final production of the 2013 Summer season. Performances run from Thursday, August 15th through Sunday, September 1st at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street in New Hope, PA). The cast will be announced shortly.

The Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) has announced that Olivia Oguma (Eve Ensler's Emotional Creature) will join Adriane Lenox and Andrea McArdle for the limited engagement of The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler and directed by Karen Carpenter. Oguma replaces Elizabeth Ashley who regretfully had to withdraw due to personal reasons and hopes to return to The Playhouse stage in the near future. Performances will be tonight, February 13 - Sunday, February 17 at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street in New Hope, PA).

Community groups Gabriela Women's Party and Gabriela, which fight for Filipino women's rights, and theater organization New Voice Company, which is best known for its repeated 'stagings' of Tony winner Eve Ensler's 'The Vagina Monologues' in the Philippines, will join women and men in 200 countries to celebrate Ensler's 15-year effort to end violence against women and girls via ONE BILLION RISING, where participants 'strike, dance, and rise' along Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City on Valentine's Day, February 14.

Sundance Institute Begins 2013 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation

The Sundance Institute Theatre Program has begun the 2013 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation. The 13th annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, Wyo. takes place through February 22 and provides a supportive environment for artists to create new work and receive guidance and reactions to it at an early stage. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Artistic Director of the Theatre Program, and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Playwrights Retreat is made possible through the generosity of Ucross Foundation.

KCRW Curates Evening Music Programming at 2013 Sundance Film Festival, 1/19 & 20

Sundance Institute and KCRW previously announced that the LA public radio station will host three nights (January 18-20) of live musical performances at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Music Café and broadcast live from the Acura studio space in Park City, Utah today, January 19, and the 20th. Lecturer Julie Fain Lawrence is appearing in a film that is among the 16 films chosen for the US Dramatic Competition. In all, 119 films were chosen for the festival out of 12,146 submissions.
