Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced today that it has added four shows to its 2019a?"20 season lineup: A Night with Janis Joplin, Mark O'Connor's a?oeAn Appalachian Christmas,a?? The Price is Right LIVE!, and Ballet Hispánico. Cesar Millan, the world's most celebrated dog behaviorist, will bring the story of his remarkable life to the stage for the world premiere of his one-man show "Cesar Millan - My Story: Unleashed." Millan will lead the audience on an inspiring journey ranging from his humble beginnings in rural Mexico and travels to America, to his struggles, successes and passion for transforming families and their lives with his unique approach to canine discipline. He often says, "I train people not dogs," and now for the first time ever, Millan "live in person" will share his authenticity, honesty and bravery during this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This June, Hidden Realms, a new immersive experience company based in Los Angeles, presents Ascend: When Myths Fall, Heroes Rise at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Ascend is a fully immersive and interactive experience that aims to make the audience the heroes of their own story.

Artistic Director Braden Abraham today announced Seattle Rep's new nine-play 2019/2020 season, which features the second Public Works Seattle production, two musical works, a world premiere, a Pulitzer-Prize nominated play, and more. To align with their vision of 'theater at the heart of public life,' Seattle Rep is also rolling out their new visual identity over the next few months, with a full campaign to be launched in August. Roundabout Theatre Company announces the newest addition to the artistic team: Directing Fellow Kathleen Capdesuner. Capdesuner is the third Roundabout Directing Fellow; this season she is assisting Daniel Aukin (Apologia), James Macdonald (True West) and Margot Bordelon (Something Clean), working with the theatre's artistic team as a script reader, and using Roundabout's resources to develop her own projects.

Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Janis Joplin exploded onto the music scene in 1967 and, almost overnight, became the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll. Davies carries on and mimics the unmistakable raspy voice filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort to a tee, her stage presence making it easy to see what made Joplin a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock and beyond even to this day, so many years after her too-soon passing at the age of 27. After listening to Davies' sharing of Janis' life, it is easy to think the rock legend died from not only from drugs and alcohol but from her lonely co-dependent longing for a man to share her life, equaling her love of the spotlight and adoration received from a live audience, which she could never find. Davies' renditions of Joplin favorites, including “Summertime,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Cry Baby,” and “Me and Bobby McGee” among others, ignite the stage and audiences alike with a passion no man in her life could ever match.
