The summer institution's season opener effortlessly blends the two genres the venue is most famous for.

Did you ever hear of the Andrews Brothers? You will soon, as they slip into the Andrews Sisters’ skirts and tap shoes to perform a USO show for World War II troops after the Sisters’ appearance became unavoidably canceled. The guys have plenty of experience, sort of, as USO stagehands.

The Omaha Community Playhouse production of The Color Purple will open Friday, March 4, 2022. The show will run in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre through March 27 with performances Wednesdays through Sundays.

Get ready for a night of Broadway-style belting at The Winter Park Playhouse as Ms. Tay Anderson brings to life the best of Judy Garland and daughter Liza Minnelli in her new cabaret - Ring Them Bells - November 17 and 18.  Playhouse Musical Director Christopher Leavy will accompany on piano.

With songs like 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,' 'Hold Tight,' 'Three Little Sisters,' and 'Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree,' audiences are immediately taken away to wartime - well, actually, the war's in its waning days (the time is March 1945), but young men are still risking their lives to ensure our liberties while saving the world from the Axis powers.

This season's revival of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's Pulitzer Prize-winning play YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU opens on Broadway tonight, and in honor of the playwriting pair's long list of contributions to the theatre, we've rounded up some of their most notable works. Champions of the USO, and perhaps the most famous singing group of all time, The Andrews Sisters sold more than 90 million records in their career, and sang to troops all over the world, raising moral and warming hearts from the East Coast to the Pacific Rim. So, you may be asking yourself why the show is called The Andrews Brothers. Ah....the magic of live theatre.
