Theatre Aspen announced final casting for its 30th summer season this week. The summer repertory season includes the Tony Award-winning epic Les Miserables, opening June 25th, the one-man comedy Fully Committed, opening July 6th and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, which opens July 12th. All shows run through late August.

Theatre Aspen announced casting for its 30th summer season today. Theatre Aspen Launches New Apprentice Program

A new Theatre Aspen Apprentice Program was announced today. The award-winning Equity theatre will invite ten aspiring theatre professionals to Aspen for an entire summer, to work alongside professionals in all aspects of theatre production. Theatre Aspen supporters and Aspen residents Jessica and John Fullerton will underwrite the program for its first three years. In January, the organization was named "Non Profit of the Year" in the region with hundreds of local not-for-profits.
Theatre Aspen 2013 Season Tickets Go On Sale 4/1

The new Hurst Theatre is the setting for Theatre Aspen's new production of Alain Boubil and Claude-Michel Schonberg's Les Miserables, based on the novel by Victor Hugo, with music by Schonberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer. The multiple Tony Award-winner opens June 21st and runs the entire summer, through August 17th.
Theatre Aspen Tickets Go On Sale 4/1

Theatre Aspen today announced that single tickets and passes for the summer season go on sale April 1st (no fooling). Deals on sale now include season passes for both two or three shows, discounted preview passes and the popular Local's Pass (additional $20 off), for valley residents. Full season passes with early seating preference went on sale January 1st, with exclusive access to booking seats, available through April 1st.
Actors' Equity Association Receives National Charter from AFL-CIO

Actors' Equity Association (AEA or Equity), the labor union representing more than 49,000 professional stage actors and stage managers in the US, today received an historic national charter in its centennial year from the AFL-CIO. The direct charter, which was given at the morning session of the AFL-CIO Executive Council meeting, makes AEA the 57th labor organization to receive the distinguished honor of formal association with the national federation of American unions.

Theatre Aspen Completes Capital Campaign

Theatre Aspen today announced the completion of their two-year, $2MM capital campaign, which supported the building of the new Hurst Theatre and lobby, and significant upgrades to the grounds. This work was undertaken in partnership with the Aspen City Parks Department, as part of a larger renovation to the John Denver Sanctuary in the Rio Grande Park, within which the theatre resides.

The Aspen Chamber Resort Association awarded Theatre Aspen a Business of the Year Award at today's 2013 Wintersköl Luncheon awards ceremony. The honor recognizes a non-profit organization that has developed a close partnership with the Roaring Fork Valley community as a means to achieve its mission. There are over six hundred non-profits in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Theatre Aspen's Board of Trustees will host an intimate panel discussion on November 8th, featuring distinguished leaders in the theatrical field. The event will be held in conjunction with the Colorado theatre's quarterly board meeting, being held for the first time in New York City. The event will be held at Ars Nova, a non-profit theatre known for developing exciting new artists, and is by invitation only.

Last night, Thursday, September 20, legendary Broadway director and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince served as Master of Ceremonies for the the fourth-annual "Broadway Salutes," an industry-wide celebration to honor those who make Broadway great. The event was presented by The Broadway League and Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) and was once again held in the Times Square Visitors Center (7th Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets).
