Announcing The Orchard Project's 2019-20 Greenhouse

The Orchard Project has announced the twelve writers, composers, directors and companies for its 2019-20 New York City Greenhouse. Now in its second year, the Orchard Project NYC Greenhouse is a NYC-based accelerator for directors, writers, composers and other generative artists to seed ambitious and unexpected work, form new relationships and develop a new generation of theater. For the Orchard Project, it aims to parlay the strength of support that has set the organization apart and transform it into a resource for its growing network of artists.

The Australian Discovery Orchestra, the world's first solely digital streaming orchestra, is proud to announce "16 STORIES" - a worldwide online vocal competition. Renowned musical theatre creators from around the world have contributed a song from a musical they have written that has never previously been recorded for commercial release; these 16 songs will comprise an upcoming Australian Discovery Orchestra album, to be released on the Broadway Records label.

14th Annual Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project Seeks Submissions For 2019

The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF) and the American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University will once again seek out the nation's most talented young songwriters and writing teams for the 14th annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project. The free, weeklong songwriting workshop will take place June 23 to 29, 2019 on Northwestern's Evanston campus.

Composer/Singer Marisa Michelson Premieres New Work At Judson

Recognized as a leading voice in choral and musical theatre composition, composer/theatre-maker/singer Marisa Michelson is hailed for writing and/or performing profound works with a rich tapestry of complicated choral and musical stylings. Michelson's 2018 season begins February 1-3, 2018, with the world premiere of The Desire/Divinity Project, a two-part musical piece featuring Michelson and her vocal performance ensemble, Constellation Chor, live orchestration, and dance choreographed by #Mamaisamaker's Emma Crane Jaster (Loft Opera). Directed by Ethan Heard (Heartbeat Opera) and originally choreographed by Chase Brock (currently by Emma Crane Jaster), this Project was developed by Michelson while researching mind/body/spirit practices with virtuosic singing as an artist-in-residence at Judson Memorial Church. Part One: Song of Songs of Songs explores the relationship between the sensual and the sacred, the body and the spirit, through an exegesis of the Western world's oldest erotic poem, Song of Songs.

THE GENESIS PLAYS, a collection of plays inspired by stories in the book of Genesis, will perform in rep during a three-week limited engagement at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 E 14th St at 1st Ave, New York, NY 10003) and are funded with generous support by The Covenant Foundation. Performances begin Tuesday, May 1st and continue through Friday, May 18, 2018.  Tickets are $18 (or see three plays for $14 each with a Flex Pass) and are now available online at www.14streety.org
