According to The Hollywood Reporter, five-time Tony Award winning actress Audra McDonald will guest star on the CBS legal drama THE GOOD WIFE later this season.

The Old Globe celebrates the 100th anniversary of Pygmalion with a lavish new production of George Bernard Shaw's masterwork. When speech professor Henry Higgins makes a bet with a fellow scholar that he can pass off a common Cockney flower girl as the pinnacle of English society, he proves to be an expert in phonetics but a novice with people. Directed by Nicholas Martin (Broadway's Butley with Nathan Lane and Present Laughter with Victor Garber), Pygmalion is a charming classic full of wit and humor.

The subject seems to come up at least once a year and it's now made its first 2013 appearance - will Mel Brooks bring BLAZING SADDLES to Broadway? Maybe.
Deadline.com reports that at a PBS panel on his American Masters Series, Brooks was asked again about turning the film into a stage show? His answer - he's thinking about.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Jonny Orsini and Lewis J. Stadlen will join two-time Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane in its upcoming production of THE NANCE, a new play by Douglas Carter Beane to be directed by Jack O'Brien. The production will begin previews on Thursday, March 21 and open on Monday, April 15 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45 Street). Additional casting for THE NANCE will be announced at a later date.

What do you think was going through Philippa Bevans' head as she tucked Julie Andrews into bed, as the budding star sang "I Could Have Danced All Night" during rehearsals for the original Broadway production of My Fair Lady? Do you think she knew how special that moment was? Do you think she maybe had an inkling of how iconic Julie Andrews would become? I bet she did. As I listen to Laura Osnes sing "Impossible" while I drive her to the ball, I find myself wondering the same thing. Will this be the moment in my life that my daughter one day has me describe to her over and over again?

The Other Place, the new play starring Laurie Metcalf, opened last night, January 10 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). The Other Place stars Laurie Metcalf ('Roseanne,' November), Daniel Stern ('The Wonder Years,' Diner), Zoe Perry (Broadway debut), and John Schiappa (Assassins, Take Me Out).

Marin Theatre Company Presents WAITING FOR GODOT, 1/24-2/17

Marin Theatre Company begins 2013 and the second half of its critically acclaimed 46th Season with Samuel Beckett's modern classic, Waiting for Godot, which runs from January 24 to February 17. MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis directs, returning to "this greatest of 20th-century plays" (The New York Times) over a decade after he first directed an "excellent, electrifying" (The Cincinnati Enquirer) production at Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival. MTC's production features a talented cast: Oregon Shakespeare Festival company member Mark Bedard, popular Bay Area actors James Carpenter and Mark Anderson Philips and Cirque du Soliel and Ringling Bros. clown Ben Johnson, as well as two local southern Marin youths. Opening night is on Tuesday, January 29.
