Bird & Carrot presents THE MOTHER - a short film treat for ballet and dance lovers! On September 25th a tantalising short film featuring moments from Arthur Pitaa??s critically acclaimed ballet THE MOTHER starring NATALIA OSIPOVA and JONATHAN GODDARD which performed at the Southbank Centre in June 2019, will be released online.

The latest ballet to feature as part of the #OurHouseToYourHouse series is Kenneth Macmillan's Anastasia, the true story of Anna Anderson who claimed to be the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II and the only survivor of the Russian Royal family's assassination in 1918.

Due to concerns about the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, New York City Ballet has decided to limit its international travel and will no longer perform at Sadler's Wells from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 March. The company was due to perform Rotunda, a new work by choreographer Justin Peck, as part of Nico Mulhy: Drawn Lines, a programme of work set to the music of the contemporary composer.

A busy week of dance in London is brought to a radiant conclusion by the perfect delicacy of English National Ballet Lead Principal Alina Cojocaru, with support from some esteemed friends. 

The annual Ballet Icons Gala in London has been organised by Ensemble Productions since 2006. The Gala's programmes pay tribute to the traditions of the legendary Russian and other most prominent ballet schools and its legendary dancers who have been inspiring the ballet world and ballet lovers for centuries.

It's always a tough choice, at this annual Ballet Icons Gala, to know whether to review the performances on stage or the extravagant antics of it's animated Russian audience. It's a starry evening, where the glamorous attendees don floor length gowns, the men wear tuxedos and although it's meant to start at 7pm, you can dream on if you think anything is starting on time! What an occasion though, a varied offering of classical and contemporary repertoire and danced by some of ballet's most recognisable stars with, it must be said, mixed success. 

John Cranko's Onegin was last performed by the Royal Ballet in 2015. Now five years later, there is a new wave of rising stars who are keen to showcase their take on the great dramatic classical roles on offer, and how palpably Onegin is a ballet that needs those stars. With only four key characters, the corps are on hand to fill the lighter moments but all eyes are on the romantic entanglement at the centre of the story.

This unforgettable classic will feature internationally renowned Russian ballerina's Anastasia Stashkevich and Vyacheslav Lopatin, principal dancers in Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet, along with many of Toronto's most promising emerging dancers. American Ballet Theatre will celebrate its 80th Anniversary during the 2020 Spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House with the New York Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's Of Love and Rage, an opening week devoted to both new and historic works from the Company's repertory, and the 40th Anniversary performances of Natalia Makarova's production of La Bayadère. The Spring season was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

Saturday, July 6, 2019 The tortuous true story of Mayerling was first set to music composed by Franz Liszt, by Kenneth MacMillan, in 1978; a giant Choreographer and Innovator in the world of Ballet. MacMillan's Mayerling is the forboding story of the 1889 Murder/Suicide of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth's Syphilitic and addicted son, Prince Rudolf, and his teenage lover, Mary Vetsera. The Royal Ballet, which has not performed in Los Angeles in 24 years, has stepped out on a limb to present this. This is not your usual Ballet Company fare. Contrary to the usual fluffy story about love conquers all, this is not that in the least. We find flawed and even demented characters pouring their hearts out, in the name of love and adoration.

Alluring, sexy, their love to death stimulates their sexual desire to each other - a perfect volatile mix of tantalizing beauty and formidable athleticism. The Mayerling by England's Royal Ballet is a MUST-SEE!

The Mother is a powerful, narrative dance production choreographed and directed by master storyteller Arthur Pita which has its London premiere at the Southbank Centre Queen Elizabeth Hall in June.  Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's dark tale, The Story of a Mother, this sumptuously designed production stars international dance superstar Natalia Osipova and award-winning contemporary dancer Jonathan Goddard.
