As part of its citywide festival, Migrations: The Making of America, Carnegie Hall presents a special one-night-only event entitled From Shtetl to Stage: A Celebration of Yiddish Music and Culture in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on Monday, April 15 at 8:00 p.m. Led by Music Director Frank London, the program celebrates the journey of Yiddish culture from Old World to New through music, song, poetry, and humor.

TEVYE SERVED RAW made its New York premiere in 2018 to unanimous rave reviews ("Hilarious" - Jewish Standard; "Incredibly moving" - Tablet; "Brilliantly directed" - Forward) and, by popular demand, returned this year to its home at The Playroom Theater, 151 West 46 Street (just east of Seventh Ave.) There are only two more performances before the strictly limited engagement concludes tonight.

The evening will also feature Mike Burstyn, Paula Vogel, Avi Hoffman, Eleanor Reissa, Joanne Borts, Daniel Kahn, violinist Gil Shaham, and pianist Evgeny Kissin.

JTS Professor Curates Yiddish Theater Exhibition at Museum of the City of New York

The Museum of the City of New York mounted an exhibition titled New York's Yiddish Theater: From the Bowery to Broadway in March 2016. It is curated by Dr. Edna Nahshon, professor of Theater and Drama at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) and author of a book that shares the exhibition's title, published by Columbia University Press. The exhibition will be on view through July 31, 2016.
