Miami Beach's historic Art Deco District is comprised of vibrantly colored Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern (or MiMo) style architecture. The New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), is pleased to share details of our 2013-2014 season. As a research-and-development arm for classical music, the coming season includes a series of commissions, partnerships and events that showcase NWS as a laboratory for generating new ideas about the way music is taught, presented and experienced. Highlights include the commissioning and presentation of new works by emerging and established artists, the development of multi-media collaborative projects, and the continuation of innovative concert formats. These initiatives exist with the goal of developing New World Symphony Fellows, who will advance the field of classical music and become ambassadors for the art forms in their communities and beyond.

Jeffrey Siegel's unique 'concerts with commentary' are a joy for both the piano aficionado and novice alike with exciting explorations of some of the best-loved works in the classical canon. Returning for the 2013-2014 season--his fourth such engagement with Harris Center/Three Stages-- with four programs of Keyboard Conversations, beginning with Bach and the Romantics on August 23rd.

Pianist Jon Nakamatsu to Perform at the Mostly Mozart Festival, 8/16-17

The distinguished pianist Jon Nakamatsu will perform Brahms's Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor, Op. 38 alongside Budapest Festival Orchestra's principal cellist Peter Szabo in a pre-concert recital on Friday, August 16th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 17th at 7:00 p.m. at Avery Fisher Hall, 20 W 65th St., New York. Mr. Nakamatsu's appearances precede an all-Brahms program with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, led by David Afkham in his Mostly Mozart debut. The concerts will feature Brahms's Double Concerto with soloists Truls Mork, cello and Vadim Repin, violin and will begin at 8:00 p.m. each evening at Avery Fisher Hall.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Performs Gershwin's Greatest Hits Tonight

Maestro Case Scaglione leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in an evening of George Gershwin's Greatest Hits tonight, July 25 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore and Friday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The program will feature the jazz-filled melodies of Rhapsody in Blue, featuring pianist Jon Nakamatsu, and the timeless music from An American in Paris. The Morrison Center announces a Celebration of Velma V. Morrison's life on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Boise State University (2201 Cesar Chavez Lane). The event will honor Velma for her support of our community and contribution to the arts. The program will include guest speakers and a free concert by Tony Award-winner Brian Stokes Mitchell ('Kiss Me Kate', 'Man of La Mancha') accompanied by the Boise Philharmonic under the musical direction of Robert Franz. Outside of select seating held for the family and speakers, seating will be open to the public and on a first-come, first-served basis. No ticket is required. Parking is free. The community is encouraged to attend.

Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Announces 2013-2014 Season

The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is pleased to announce its 2013-2014 concert season. Under the continued artistic leadership of Music Director José-Luis Novo, the season will feature the Lexus Classic Series, a combination of five classical concerts, as well as a Holiday Pops concert sponsored by PNC Wealth Management, a Family concert and a free summer Pops in the Park concert presented by Lexus. All concerts are performed at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, MD with the exception of the Pops in the Park concert which is held at Quiet Waters Park amphitheater, also in Annapolis.

This production is directed and choreographed by Joe Duffy with musical and vocal direction by Joseph Murphy. The show runs today, July 19, 2013 through August 10, 2013.
