The Savannah Film Festival, which runs from October 26 to November 2, is pleased to announce Alexander Payne's NEBRASKA as its official Opening Night selection. Academy Award-winner Payne will be presented with an “Outstanding Achievement in Cinema” award by the film's star, Academy Award-nominee—and 2006 Savannah Film Festival honoree—Bruce Dern.

The acclaimed actor has entered negotiations to helm Chris Terrio's A FOREIGNER, which is based upon The New Yorker Article 'A Murder Foretold.' The widely-read article 'chronicles the true story of a man who is gunned down in Guatemala who leaves behind a videotape after his death implicating the country's president and first lady.' The film is being billed as a conspiracy thriller.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, earlier this year, Aaron Sorkin withdrew as librettist of the upcoming Broadway production Houdini, starring Hugh Jackman. Now in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, he revealed that he's deveoping another musical for Broadway. When jokingly asked if he'd ever write dance sequences into his television scripts, Sorkin resopnded: ' Well, I'm going to be doing a Broadway musical, and there will be plenty of extended dance sequences.'
