    Sundance's NEXT FEST to Run 8/7-10 at Los Angeles' Ace Hotel

    Sundance Institute will present the Sundance NEXT FEST summer festival August 7-10 in Los Angeles, headquartered at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel and offering feature and short film screenings, some paired with live music performances and all celebrating the renegade spirit of independent artists. The event is an extension of the popular NEXT <=> section at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, which showcases stylistically adventurous and bold films, and builds on the Institute's NEXT WEEKEND event, hosted in 2013. The Sundance Film Festival programming staff will select films and music acts for NEXT FEST. The festival is supported by Principal sponsors Acura and YouTube. (more...)

    CIM Signs Lease with Oprah Winfrey Network at New Creative Office Building

    CIM Group announced today that it has signed a lease with the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) for three floors of the recently completed 98,000-square-foot, five-story creative office building, Formosa South at The Lot studios.     Columbus' CAPA Summer Movie Series Premieres Silent Film THE LITTLE AMERICAN Tonight

    Christel Schmidt, an OSU alum now a film historian for the Library of Congress, will give a brief introduction to this year's CAPA Summer Movie Series silent film selection, The Little American (1917), starring 'America's Sweetheart,' Mary Pickford. Schmidt's specialty is the history of silent film with a focus on the life and career of Mary Pickford, and she will provide some insight on the actress, the pre-screening 14-minute fund-raising short for the US' Fourth Liberty Loan Drive in WWI titled One Hundred Percent American (1918) starring Pickford, and the series premiere of this feature film restoration print from the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
