Deadline has reported that Phyllis Somerville, known for To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway, television's The Big C and more, has passed away at age 76. Somerville died of natural causes at her home in New York City.

FEFU AND HER FRIENDS passes the Bechdel test with glowing colors a?" there are no men seen, and only mentioned briefly, even though we feel their presence as plot catalysts. As these women make soup, have water fights and practice French, read aloud from magazines and eat bourbon popsicles, cry and laugh and struggle, they mostly talk about what it is like to be women. How to make space for themselves, and hold space for other women. That is a rare thing.

The Filigree Theatre, the Austin-based, women-led, independent theatre company announces their Season Three Winter Production: 'The Turn of the Screw,' by Jeffrey Hatcher, set to run from Jan. 30 - Feb. 9, 2020 at Romy Suskin Photography Studio (2617 S. First St., Austin, Texas 78704), Thursdays through Sundays at 8 p.m. This production will be directed by The Filigree Theatre Founding Artistic Director, Elizabeth V. Newman and will star Austin actors James Lindsley and Paulina Fricke-Fox. Tickets for this production will be available for purchase Jan. 1 2020 on The Filigree Theatre website and directly via Eventbrite.
