The San Francisco Symphony has announced programming for its summer season, running July 4–August 4 with concerts at Davies Symphony Hall and outdoor performances at Stanford Live’s Frost Amphitheater, Shoreline Amphitheatre, and Sigmund Stern Grove.

Step into the chilling embrace of darkness at a double bill affair, Sinister Soirée, featuring the macabre sounds of the classical piano trio, Ensemble Mycelium (violinist Edward W. Hardy, cellist Molly Aronson, and pianist Daniel Colalillo), and the experimental chamber Jazz trio, Malnoia (pianist Jorn Swart, bass clarinetist Lucas Pino, and violist Benni von Gutzeit).

A new survey of acclaimed artist Charles Gaines opens at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) this November, tracing the evolution of the second half of his influential practice. Charles Gaines: 1992–2023 brings together for the first time more than 65 works from 1992 to the present day including two monumental works, one of which the artist is recreating for the first time in nearly two decades. Curated by Gean Moreno, ICA Miami's Director of the Knight Foundation Art + Research Center, the exhibition is on view at ICA Miami from November 16, 2023, to April 30, 2024.

William Shakespeare famously wrote extensively about places which he had never visited, so why shouldn’t composers do the same? Of the four pieces performed in this Spain-themed Prom, only one of the composers was Spanish - the rest were French, and at least one of them (namely Claude Debussy) had to rely on accounts of Spain from native dancers, artists, and musicians, as he had never set foot in the country.
