The Directors Company and Dan Stone announce the industry reading of Beau, a new play inside a concert, being presented April 13th at The Directors Company.

This March, the creative team behind Ragtime on Ellis Island will be developing new use of in-ear monitoring (IEM) technology in a Sound Workshop, meant to explore its potential use for audiences in a fully realized site-specific production.

The Dramatists Guild Foundation celebrated the work of Itamar Moses at a salon hosted by DGF President Emeritus, Gretchen Cryer on Monday, September 25. He was interviewed by DGF President Andrew Lippa, and spoke about his writing process as well as the creation of his hit Broadway musical, The Band's Visit, co-written with David Yazbeck. Broadway's Max Chernin (Bright Star), Kaitlyn Davidson (Cinderella, Nice Work If You Can Get It) and F. Michael Haynie (Wicked), as well as Jed Resnick (Avenue Q)* will headline the The Mik e Pettry Project , the second in the Singers Forum/EMGCollective's collaborative songbook series on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, October 4 & 5, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. The series brings together Broadway performers and members of the SF/AEA Scholarship Program to spotlight work of prominent new composers. Following the success of The Patrick Dwyer Project, the series now features composer/lyricist Mike Pettry (The Light Princess, Things I Left on Long Island) whose work has been produced at A.R.T., South Coast Rep, The New Victory Theatre, etc. Pettry's current projects include partnering with composer Eli Bolin as he provides the lyrics for The Last Song of Eddie Scourge, a hard-rock adaptation of the classic A Christmas Carol.

Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) has announced that it will stage four developmental presentations of Nikko Benson and Benjamin Halstead's NIKOLA TESLA DROPS THE BEAT, an electronic dance musical about history's most overlooked inventor. The first of seven developmental presentations of the 2016 - 2017 season, the production is directed by Marshall Pailet, features musical direction by Madeline Smith, choreography by Maxx Reed and dramaturgy by Jeffrey Stoller. Presentations are on Sept 30th at 3pm & 7pm and Oct 1st at 2pm & 7pm at Playwrights Horizons South Room, 416 West 42nd Street, 4th Floor. Running time is 75 minutes.
