Award-winning photographer and conceptual artist Laurie Simmons and her daughter, Lena Dunham, best known for writing, directing, producing, and acting in the HBO program Girls, will be honored at the eleventh annual Women in the Arts luncheon on Thursday, November 14, 2013. This is the first time the benefit will jointly honor two recipients--a mother-daughter pair. New York Live Arts will present, as part of the Replay Series, works by Molissa Fenley spanning more than thirty years of her choreographic experiments in two varied programs October 2 - 5 at 7:30pm, with a lecture demonstration October 5 at 3:00pm. Fenley will present the world premiere of Found Object, the reconstructed solos The Floor Dances and Witches' Float, and the quartet Energizer, bridging her choreographic past with the present. ADAA's Art Show Raises More than $1 Million for Henry Street

The Art Show 2013, organized by the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) to benefit Henry Street Settlement, concluded with extraordinary sales and museum placements after a five-day run from March 6-10 at the historic Park Avenue Armory. Launching a week of arts activities throughout New York City, the 25th edition of The Art Show was opened by a celebratory Gala Preview with more than 2,500 special guests. The preview and ticket sales raised more than $1 million dollars for the Lower East Side's Henry Street Settlement. (more...)

Originally scheduled for early November 2012 but cancelled due to Superstorm Sandy, the concert now coincides with Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah).
