Glasstress Makes Its American Debut 2/14

Glasstress, the exhibition project organized by glass impresario Adriano Berengo for the past two Venice Biennales-each time making waves in the lagoon city-is to have its American debut at the Museum of Arts and Design on February 14th. Running through June 10, 2012, Glasstress New York: New Art from the Venice Biennale will present nearly two dozen works culled from the Venetian editions, along with work never before exhibited. Fisher Landau Center for Art is pleased to announce 'LEGACY: Selections from Emily Fisher Landau's Gift to the Whitney Museum of American Art', on view through September 12th, 2011. Occupying all three floors at the Center, the exhibition highlights an overview of the historic pledge of artwork by Mrs. Landau, consisting of 419 pieces by 86 artists who have shaped the course of American Art. The installation is inspired by the Whitney Museum's recent 'Legacy' exhibition organized by Donna De Salvo and David Kiehl. The intimate setting of the Fisher Landau Center for Art allows for an expanded presentation of Mrs Landau's pledge, displaying more than 100 artworks by over 60 artists including: (more...)

Participating in Art Hong Kong is another step in Galerie Lelong artists' distinguished history in Asia and the Pacific Rim. Museum participation began with a 1937 Japanese exhibition on Surrealism which included the work of Joan Miró. Since the 60's, Miró's work has been presented in a number of monographic exhibitions in Japan. Alberto Giacometti's first monographic exhibition in Tokyo took place at the Minami Gallery in 1958, and Giacometti in Asia recently toured Japan and Singapore from 2007-08. (more...)
