There is no doubt that, for better or for worse, Broadway is the most visible home for theatre in the world. For many people across the country, it is the only thing that they know about the art form, even if there is a local playhouse just down the street. Like Xerox to copiers, and Kleenex to tissues, for many, the word 'Broadway' simply means theatre. Therefore, often the shows that call Broadway home become our greatest gateway to getting people to consume theatre at the local level. However, Broadway, by its very definition, is inaccessible. It is limited to a small handful of theaters located in New York City, in the northeast corner of the country, at least 500 miles from 18 of the top 20 most populated cities in America (not including itself and Philadelphia). For many, that is a trip that they just can't afford to make. In addition, with premium seats and ever-escalating ticket prices, even if a family of four can afford to make it to New York, four seats to a Broadway show is often cost prohibitive.

Paul Gordon and John Caird's chamber musical was performed in Japan, London and across America before arriving Off-Broadway.

BroadwayWorld has learned that due to prior commitments, Marlee Matlin and Camryn Manheim will play their final performances in Deaf West Theatre's Broadway production of SPRING AWAKENING on January 10, 2016. Their roles will be filled by Alexandria Wailes and Elizabeth Greene, respectively, and the show will close on January 24 as scheduled.

Though it never made it to Broadway, LOVE FROM JUDY was a 1952 West End hit.

KINKY BOOTS, the smash-hit musical that brings together four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Tony Award-winner for Best Score for KINKY BOOTS), opens at the Fox Theatre March 29 - April 3, 2015 as part of the 2015/2016 Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta series. An interactive American Sign Language experience will be held at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre prior to the Tuesday, December 1st performance of Deaf West Theatre's acclaimed production of Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik's Spring Awakening, BroadwayWorld has confirmed. Producer and Deaf West Theatre Artistic Director D.J. Kurs, along with members of the cast, will lead an inside look into the process of translating the lyrics of Spring Awakening into American Sign Language. Signed words and lyrics from the show will be taught, followed by a sing- and sign-along.

Ghostlight Records has released the Original Cast Album of the hit, headline-making Off-Broadway musical Clinton The Musical with CDs in stores and online today, Friday, November 20. NBC has announced that the cast of Broadway's SPRING AWAKENING will perform on LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS tonight, November 23rd.

Starting tonight, November 20, Adam Halpin (Broadway's GLORY DAYS, RENT Natl. Tour) stars in the new musical Daddy Long Legs, alongside his wife Megan McGinnis (Broadway's LES MISERABLES, SIDE SHOW, LITTLE WOMEN). Halpin, recently seen in another two-person musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Long Wharf Theatre, will appear together with his wife through February 2016.
