David Bryan is this year's recipient of the 2010 Best Music Award for MEMPHIS.

Co-Hosted by Vanessa Williams and Michael Urie, the 76th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon was held on Friday, May 21, 2010 in the Broadway Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) and 1113 Productions (Steven Ullman, Executive Producer) announced casting for the World Premiere of Falling for Eve, a new musical with book by two-time Tony Award-nominee (and recent two-time Outer Critics Circle Award-winner) Joe DiPietro (Memphis), music by Bret Simmons ('The Megan Mullally Show') and lyrics by David Howard (Galaxy Quest).

Rehearsals will soon be underway for Bailiwick Chicago's next production, F**king Men, penned by Tony-nominated writer Joe DiPietro (Memphis, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change). Mr. DiPietro is working closely with Director Tom Mullen (Urinetown, Blue Dog Prods.) to bring the definitive production of his groundbreaking play to Chicago, following smash-hit runs in London and Los Angeles.

Voting is fully underway for BroadwayWorld's 2010 Theatre Fans' Choice Awards, with thousands of votes already in and recording voting numbers already being set. So far there have been early leads established for some surprising and not so suprising early leaders.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced an Open House event that begins the Globe's year-long 75th Anniversary celebration. The free event will take place on Sunday, June 13 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and feature performances, backstage tours, costume displays, sword fighting demonstrations, bagpipes and Elizabethan dances. Presiding over the Open House will be Queen Elizabeth - played by Old Globe Associate Artist Marion Ross.

Last week the New York Post reported that Justin Timberlake was interested in making a movie of MEMPHIS and this week ... it's Oliver Stone. The paper states that Stone is a big fan of the show which he's seen twice already and that he's been taking meetings with David Bryan. A representative for Stone confirms the director is interested in the project, telling the publication, 'He's thinking about it.'

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the cast and creative team for the West Coast Premiere of Matthew Lopez's The Whipping Man. The Civil War drama is directed by Giovanna Sardelli and will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre through June 13. Beginning May 11th, Sandy Duncan will star in Creating Claire, written by Joe DiPetro. David Saint will direct the production which will run through June 6th at George Street Playhouse. Today it was announced that Celia Keenan-Bolger, Michael Countryman and Lynn Cohen have joined the cast.

The New York Post is reporting that while pop star Justin Timberlake was backstage with girlfriend Jessica Biel at MEMPHIS on Broadway last week, that he told the show's composer, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan that 'he's interested in turning the show into a movie.' Timberlake, aged 29 was born in Memphis, Tennessee where the show takes place.

Chad Kimballl, the newly-Tony nominated star of MEMPHIS, is headed to Seth's Broadway Chatterbox this Thursday, May 6th, at 6:00 PM.

The Broadway production of Memphis, which originated at the La Jolla Playhouse during the 2008/09 season before transferring to New York, has garnered eight Tony Award nominations.
