After six days and 73 feature films, the 2021 Sundance Film Festival’s Awards Ceremony took place tonight, hosted by actor and comedian Patton Oswalt, with jurors presenting 24 prizes for feature filmmaking and seven for Short Films.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent work selected across the Feature Film, Short Film, Indie Series and New Frontier categories for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Hulu has renewed A24's Ramy, from Golden Globe-winner Ramy Youssef, for a 10-episode, third season. The second season debuted on Hulu on Friday, May 29.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation's premier member organization of independent storytellers, announced today the nominees for the 29th Annual IFP Gotham Awards. Ten competitive awards will be presented to independent features and series. In addition to the competitive awards, Gotham Tributes will be given to actors Laura Dern and Sam Rockwell, director Ava DuVernay, and the Gotham Industry Tribute to Glen Basner.

Veteran programming executive Simran S. Sethi has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president, Development and Content Strategy for ABC Entertainment, it was announced today by Karey Burke, president of ABC Entertainment, to whom she will report.

Two-time Academy Award® and Golden Globe® Award-winner Mahershala Ali has been cast as a special guest star in the Hulu Original comedy series Ramy. Ali, who is a huge fan of the series, will join creator Ramy Youssef in the second season, which is slated to premiere in 2020.

Comedian, actor, writer and producer Lil Rel will star in his first HBO stand-up comedy special, it was announced today by Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president, HBO Programming. To be taped before a live audience in Los Angeles next month, the exclusive hour-long presentation will be executive produced by Lil Rel, Jerrod Carmichael, Bo Burnham, Chris Storer, Jeff Tomsic and Avi Gilbert.

REL grew to 6.1 million viewers in 3-Day multi-platform, delivering the network's most-watched and highest-rated comedy debut since 'The Mick' on January 1, 2017. In addition, REL posted FOX's strongest 3-Day Total Multi-Platform audience since the Season Four finale of EMPIRE in May.
