Galerie XII Los Angeles (www.galeriexii.com) is celebrating its first anniversary with the solo exhibition of world-renowned, Milan-based photographer Paolo Ventura. The exhibition of Ventura's magical photographic works, 'An Invented World' spans six series over the last decade and will provide the most comprehensive overview of the celebrated Italian artist's oeuvre on the West Coast to date, including the debut of new works.The exhibition runs from January 18 to March 14, 2020 with a public opening reception with the artist on Saturday, January 18 from 4 - 7 pm. Galerie XII is located near LA's famed Museum Row on Miracle Mile (6150 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90048).

For the first time in its history, the French Institute Alliançe Francaise (FIAF) honored two women at its annual Trophée des Arts Gala on Monday, November 4th at The Plaza Hotel in NYC. This year's event honored actress and musician Charlotte Gainsbourg, who was recognized as someone who exemplifies FIAF's mission of French-American friendship and cross-cultural exchange. FIAF also fêted Ardian president Dominique Senequier, who received the Pilier d'Or for her contributions as a leading businesswoman to the French-American community.

A schedule rich in variety and landmark recording projects is central to Jean-Efflam Bavouzet's 2019-20 season. The French pianist's chosen repertoire spans everything from the concertos of Bartók, Beethoven and Ravel to sonatas by Haydn and rarities by Debussy. Highlights include an extensive UK tour of Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra (8-15 February 2020); a complete cycle of Beethoven's piano concertos with the Orchestre National de Lyon (19 & 21 March, 11 & 13 June); Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (14 February) and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (8 June); and Debussy's Fantaisie with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (28 & 29 February).

Early Music Vancouver (EMV) commences its 50th Anniversary Season with Le Concert Spirituel: Baroque Orchestral Suites on September 28, 2019 at 7:30pm at Christ Church Cathedral. Inspired by the seminal 18th-century French concert series, 16 members of Victoria Baroque present a lavish pairing of French Overture Suites and Italian Concerti Grossi. In a program for the ages, Pacific Symphony is joined by returning guest conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni and pianist Juho Pohjonen, who will be making his debut with the orchestra, for "A Space Odyssey." This space-themed concert will feature the world premiere of composer Michael Daugherty's "To the New World," a three-movement work celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, along with Pohjonen's performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, with Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra" ending the evening.

Menander Productions and Jamie Pierce have announced a limited engagement of the world premiere comedy Attack of the Second Bananas by Gina Torrecilla at the Zephyr Theatre in West Hollywood. Directed by Ryan Bergmann, opening is set for Friday, March 1, at 8pm and the limited run will play through March 31.

Peter Oundjian Appointed Music Director Of Colorado Music Festival; 2019 Concert Season Announced

The Colorado Music Festival today announced the appointment of conductor Peter Oundjian as its next Music Director. He is the fourth person to hold this title in the 42-year history of the festival, which is held for six weeks each year at the Colorado Chautauqua, a National Historic Landmark at the foot of the rugged Flatirons. Mr. Oundjian led the 2018 festival as Artistic Advisor, and his appointment as Music Director was announced along with the festival's 2019 season, which runs from June 27 to August 3 and explores the legacy of Beethoven.
