A record turnout crowded the Jim Kempner Fine Art Gallery last night for the launched party of Nine Theatricals' production of Hamlet, which goes into rehearsal shortly for a July opening at the 13th Repertory Theater.

The Midtown International Theatre Festival is becoming a year-round program!

Jay Michaels, a director/producer and public relations specialist, will direct the new musical version of THE ADDING MACHINE, book and lyrics by Fran Handman and music by Sheldon Gartner, to be produced by John Chatterton, founder and executive producer of the Midtown International Theatre Festivals.

Brooklyn's celebrated arts training center completes its second season with a rousing night of Broadway favorites sung by Mary Micari's Musical Master Class and performed across the street from The Public Theater in Manhattan.

BxO's Season 48 comes to a close with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's sequel to the Barber of Seville. The Marriage of Figaro follows the married and bored Count Almaviva, and his continued philandering. This time he has chosen his wife's maid to satiate his carnal desires. Only one thing stands in his way… her fiancée… FIGARO... no longer a barber, now the Count's right-hand man. Mozart's “folle journée” (crazy day) includes appearances by a slimy music master out for revenge, a scheming spinster, a drunken gardener, and numerous… and amorous… cohorts.

?The success of last season's VOICES Concert has prompted a second musical event added to the season. SHOWTUNE: A TRIBUTE TO THE AMERICAN MUSICAL THEATER will be presented in June. Joining the staff of this electrifying event is MASON GRIFFIN.

This year, the MITF is starting "Next Generation," a program to nurture young playwrights and other theatre artists involved in playwriting classes and programs in colleges and acting schools.

Just off the stage with its world premiere in Theater For The New City's Dream Up Festival and tour, Kris Lundberg's stage play, 'MUSE', will have an encore performance on Friday, December 5th with a pre-show wine reception at 7:30pm and show at 8pm in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. This one night only event is being hosted by St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church and Rector, Rev. John Denaro.

Last Monday, October 27, the Midtown International Theater Festival presented the awards for its 15th anniversary season. Meshelle, 'The Indie-Mom of Comedy,' hosted this New York independent theatre tradition which celebrates the outstanding work of the festivals and productions found in the Midtown International Theatre Festival, Midwinter Madness Fest, Commercial Division, Children's Theatre Program, Cabaret Showcase, Staged Reading Series, and the Short Play Lab. Producer John Chatterton's Sweet 16th Year is underway with a new installment of the widely popular Short Play Lab Series. This special installment features 20 new works including Head Trauma by international playwright, Marcus Yi; and making its American theater debut, the Iran Saye Theatre's new work: THE MAN AND THE WORDS written and directed by Mehdi Mashhour and performed by Golshad Moradi & Alexsander Kwanje. International actress, Emmy Pai returns to New York theater in Christopher Sirota's new play, PULL THE TRIGGER, STUPID.

Producers Andrew Rothkin and Jay Michaels have come together to produce a series of scary plays befitting the season. This trick or treat bag is filled with prominent artists, guest directors, and premieres. Joseph Koch of Manhattan's memorabilia haven Forbidden Planet and Brooklyn's Warehouse of Wonder (more than 1,000,000 comic books and other memorabilia) is supplying vintage giveaways and prizes. Illustrator Songe Riddle created original poster artwork for the event... 'alas poor... Yorick?'
