Producer John Chatterton will premiere a special presentation of the new musical version of Elmer Rice's foreboding tale of the mechanization of man, ADDING MACHINE.

The musical focuses on Eddie Zero, a grumbly back-office pencil-pusher who - after 25 years working for a nameless, faceless, and soulless company - is replaced by an adding machine. A parable that is as powerful today as it was in 1923 when the original play premiered.

So Zero kills his boss ... is caught ... tried and executed ... and then things get worse!

Jason Veasey, formerly of Broadway's The Lion King appears as Mr. Zero. He is joined - on this plane of existence - by Deb Armelino as his embittered wife; Serena Bateman as Daisy, who sees something "special" in him; Kristen Alyson Browne, the free spirit who caught Zero's eye; and Ken Coughlin as "the Boss." The afterlife brings us Mario Claudio and Joseph Conway as Mel & Hal, proprietors of the great beyond and David Arthur Bachrach as Shrdlu, a creepy fella who's looking forward to the tortures of hell just a little too much. Sara Minisquero, Sam Turlington, and Scott Williams are featured as numerous denizens of New York early last-century.

Fran Handman wrote the book and lyrics, Sheldon Gartner wrote the music. Mason Griffin (musical director for Naked Boys Singing) serves as musical director.
The production is directed by Jay Michaels.

Adding Machine performs Friday, November 20 @ 2pm and Saturday, November 21 @ noon @ the Jewel Box Theater of the Workshop Theatre, 312 w 36th Street as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival's Fall Edition.
