Hangar Theatre's Fall Season to Feature GREEN GABLES Musical Reading & More

The Hangar Theatre recently announced its current line-up of shows and events for the remainder of 2015 and is expecting to add to this extensive list in the next month. The Hangar's CabarETC series features three musical performances you won't want to miss, including Women of Woodstock - a tribute concert to Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Melanie, and Grace Slick, Joe Crookston's October Jubilee - concert and art show, and the Burns Sisters annual Home for the Holiday's Concert. Aside from these melodic performances, the Hangar will be hosting a variety of other events including theatrical pieces, a comedy show, and events for other nonprofits in town, including hosting the Jewish High Holiday services for Ithaca's Temple Tikkun V'Or.

The Tony Award nominated revival of On The Town concludes its run on Broadway tonight, September 6, following 28 previews and 368 regular performances, making this the longest-running Broadway production of the show since the 1944 original. ON THE TOWN began previews on September 20, 2014 and officially opened on October 16, 2014 at the Lyric Theatre. The Alliance Theatre has announced its world premiere production of Tiger Style! From Mike Lew, the award-winning playwright of Bike America, comes a hilarious new play about family influence and finding personal success without an academic framework. The Alliance's production, directed by Tony Award nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel, runs on the Alliance Stage from September 30 - October 18, 2015. This production marks the first time that a past winner of the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition has returned for a world premiere on the main stage.

BroadwayWorld has learned that writer and director Randy Johnson (A Night With Janis Joplin -- Broadway and currently at Pasadena Playhouse) has obtained the stage rights to Gayle Wald's biography SHOUT, SISTER, SHOUT!: THE UNTOLD STORY OF ROCK-AND-ROLL TRAILBLAZER ROSETTA THARPE (Beacon Press, 2007). Johnson is currently in discussion with producers and regional theatres to present and produce SHOUT, SISTER, SHOUT! for the 2016/17 season.

Now, New York City Ballet soloist Georgina Pazcoguin steps into the role of 'Ivy Smith' for performances from tonight, August 11, through August 23. Beginning August 25, Misty Copeland will make her Broadway debut in the role for 12 performances only, through September 6.

'Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me...' You can't help singing along when Aretha Franklin asks for some "Respect," and this year the iconic tune turns 50. Though originally written and recorded by Otis Redding in 1965, Franklin reimagined the song as a declaration from a strong and confident woman, which is why it is one of the featured songs in The Arundel Barn Playhouse production of Beehive: The '60's Musical.
