On Saturday 12 September, Riverside Theatres presents Pearl: The Janis Joplin Story, a musical presentation that celebrates the queen of rock 'n' roll and vintage funk, Janis Joplin.

After her death in 1970, Janis Joplin's critically acclaimed album Pearl was released. Pearl has since been embraced as a triumphant album that fuses rock, jazz and blues with a gritty flavour that marked an era of change.

Best remembered for her rebellious lifestyle and distinctive voice, Janis Joplin continually left audiences speechless. Pearl: The Janis Joplin Story pays homage to the legacy of this captivating woman, delivering her music and story with integrity and soul.

Including hits such as Cry Baby, Move Over, Piece of My Heart, Bobby McGee, the show will transport the audience into a smoky, jazzy, blues club atmosphere. Music from Janis's greatest influences such as Bessie Smith, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen will also be featured.

Highlighting the extraordinary talents of blues singer Liza Ohlback, musical director, guitarist and vocalist Jeremy Edwards, pianist Sean Mackenzie, and percussionist and drummer Greg Ohlback, Pearl: The Janis Joplin Story is an intimate theatre production that delivers the remarkable story and music of Janis Joplin.
