The Old Globe presents the first show of its 2017-2018 Season, the world premiere musical Benny & Joon, with book by Kirsten Guenther, music by Nolan Gasser, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein. Based on the beloved 1993 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture written by Barry Berman and Leslie McNeil, Benny & Joon is directed by Jack Cummings III, Artistic Director of New York's Transport Group. Broadwaysted, the popular and hilarious theatre podcast, is proud to announce the World Premiere of Broadwaysted Away, a new and original three-part 'radio play' featuring an all-star cast. Written and edited by Kevin Jaeger with additional puns by Bryan Plofsky, Broadwaysted Away will be released as three consecutive weekly episodes of Broadwaysted free on iTunes. Part One of Broadwaysted Away premieres Tuesday, August 15th.

New Writers At 54! is a summer series at Feinstein's/54 Below showcasing exciting work by today's hottest emerging voices, curated by Creative and Programming Director Jennifer Ashley Tepper.

Stephen DeAngelis continues his ongoing salute to Broadway and Off-Broadway Standbys, Understudies and Alternates with its next edition of AT THIS PERFORMANCE... to be held on Monday, July 10th at the series' new home, The Green Room 42, Green Fig, Fourth Floor, Yotel NYC, 570 Tenth Avenue (at 42nd Street), New York, NY 10036 at 8 PM.

More than a thousand women flew planes for the US Air Force during WWII. At 9:30pm on July 17th, songs from Sweetwater, the new musical inspired by these Women Airforce Service Pilots and their fight for a place in history, will debut in a one-night-only high-flying concert at Feinstein's/54 Below.

The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, Owner) just presented the 62nd Annual Obie Awards®. Jennifer Kidwell & Scott R. Sheppard's Underground Railroad Game, produced by Ars Nova, and J.T. Roger's Oslo, produced by Lincoln Center Theater, shared the Obie Awards for Best New American Theatre Work, which is accompanied by a $500 prize each. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel received a special Obie Award for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street). 

This week, 'Everything's Coming Up Rose...and Cabernet' as we toast our original fans: the #MomsOfTheShow. On this special Mother's Day episode we sit down with Jill Plofsky, Gail A. Cooper and, since she's in Florida, Jennifer Jaeger is being played by Broadwaysted Favorite Hannah Elless (#RecastWithHannahElless). We chat with our mothers about the naked scene in HAIR, their theatrical experiences that led them to expose us to theater at a young age, and their favorite experiences seeing us in shows.  

Tonight, Broadway's most emotional belters will gather on the Feinstein's/54 Below stage to sing some of Ed Sheeran's biggest hits. Audiences can expect to hear beloved classics mixed in with new and niche numbers, ranging from "A-Team" to "I'm A Mess," "Happier," "Photograph," and many more. Join some of your favorite Broadway stars for a night of drinking, crying, pouring our hearts out, and trying to find a bit of optimism in the mess of it all!

A great difference between the Broadway theatre of today and that of the 1950s, the decade when William Inge emerged as an important American playwright, is that the public couldn't see the kind of edgy, incisive drama on their television sets that live theatre was offering.

BROADWAYSTED - the popular and hilarious podcast that combines theatre and alcohol- is gearing up for their 50th Episode where they'll be appearing live as the headliners of an afternoon event of "Day Drinking" at NYC PodFest.  The show, which also features Smithsonian's podcast sidedoor and Death Wish Coffee Company's Fueled by Death Cast, will find the Broadwaysted crew day drinking with special guest Krysta Rodriguez.  For tickets, click here.

Picnic and Come Back, Little Sheba have begun performances at The Gym at Judson. Both shows were written by William Inge and will be performed in repertory through April 16. Check out photos from their opening night below!
