Alan Gilbert will begin his second season as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic when he conducts the Orchestra's Opening Night Gala, Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., presented by Breguet.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in Mahler's Symphony No. 6, launching a season-long focus that honors the 150th anniversary of the composer/conductor's birth and the 100th anniversary of his death and last season as music director of the New York Philharmonic, Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 30, at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, October 1, at 8:00 p.m.

In the second of the final three weeks of his inaugural season, Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in Wagner's Siegfried Idyll; HK Gruber's trumpet concerto Aerial; Mozart's Symphony No. 25; and Wagner's Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde, Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m., and Saturday, June 19, at 8:00 p.m. Joining the Orchestra to perform Aerial will be the Swedish trumpet virtuoso, Håkan Hardenberger, for whom it was written, and who is making his New York Philharmonic debut.

Elliott Forrest of WQXR Radio will emcee the Arts & Buisness Council of New York's 45th annual Encore Awards on May 25. The ceremony will be held at TheTimesCenter beginning at 5pm. Begin honored that night will be WNYC & WQXR, Free Arts NYC & Deutsche Bank, New York Musical Theatre Festial (NYMF) & TheatreMania and Marianne C. Lockwood, the President of the Orchestra of St. Luke's.

Comedy legend and actor Robert Klein will discuss his life and career with WNYC/WQXR's Elliott Forrest on Thursday, May 13 at 8:00 p.m. at the Lafayette Theatre in downtown Suffern just prior to the airing of Klein's 9th HBO special.

The New York Philharmonic will present The Russian Stravinsky: A Philharmonic Festival conducted by Valery Gergiev on April 21-May 8, 2010.
