Donna Lynne Champlin Set For Encore Awards; NYMF, WNYC et al. Honored

Elliott Forrest of WQXR Radio will emcee the Arts & Buisness Council of New York's 45th annual Encore Awards on May 25. The ceremony will be held at TheTimesCenter beginning at 5pm.

Begin honored that night will be WNYC & WQXR, Free Arts NYC & Deutsche Bank, New York Musical Theatre Festial (NYMF) & TheatreMania and Marianne C. Lockwood, the President of the Orchestra of St. Luke's.

Providing entertainment for the event will be OBIE Award winner Donna Lynne Champlin as wel as members of the Orchestra of St. Luke's. Presenting the awards will be Barbara Feldon, David Finckel and Diahann Billings-Burford.

The Encore Awards were founded in 1997. The Encore Awards honors three categories of excellence, Arts & Business Partnership, Creative Business Volunteer and Excellence in Arts Management. Past honorees include, Alvin Ailey, The Town Hall, Alliance of Resident Theatres, Todd Haimes, Silvia Brito, Barry Grove, Elaine Grogan Luttrull, June Rousso and Phyllis Barr.

Donna Lynne Champlin made her Broadway debut in James Joyce's The Dead, and appeared to great acclaim in Hollywood Arms, By Jeeves, and as Pirelli in the John Doyle directed Sweeney Todd. Her other NYC credits include Very Warm For May (Carnegie Hall), Bloomer Girl (Encores), Reunion, First Lady Suite, Bury the Dead and My Life With Albertine. She won a 2007 OBIE Award for her performance in The Dark At The Top of the Stairs, and a 2008 NYMF Outstanding Individual Performance Award for her performance in Love Jerry. She has also performed her acclaimed one-woman show Finishing The Act at Ars Nova and The Laurie Beechman Theatre. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is an annual three-week fall Festival which presents more than thirty new musicals at venues in New York City's midtown theater district. More than half of these productions are chosen by leading theater artists and producers through an open-submission, double-blind evaluation process; the remaining shows are invited to participate by the Festival's artistic staff.
