Trinity Repertory Company will open William Shakespeare's Othello in February. This production continues Trinity Rep's long tradition of generating productions of Shakespearean plays that are relevant and accessible to adult and student audiences throughout Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Under the direction of Brown/Trinity Rep MFA alumna Whitney White '15, the powerful play will explore military themes, as well as the friendships and relationships that form the basis for the legendary story of betrayal and jealousy. The play runs approximately two hours and 20 minutes with one 15 minute intermission. Othello runs February 15 through March 18, with press opening on Monday, February 19 at 7:30 pm. LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) announces that Benedict Cumberbatch CBE has been appointed as the Academy's new President. He will take up the position immediately, succeeding Timothy West CBE who steps down after 31 years in the role.

BBC News has reported that an all-star cast will be leading the BBC small screen Les Miserables series. Dominic West will be playing Jean Valjean along with Lily Collins as Fantine, David Oyelowo as Javert, and Erin Kellyman as Eponine. This adaptation will not be a musical.

Nobel Peace Prize Concert organizers today announced that internationally renowned actor David Oyelowo will host the 24th annual event in Oslo, Norway on December 11th at Telenor Arena, honoring the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, ICAN, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. Oyelowo joins an elite group of artists who have hosted the concert over the years, including Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, Scarlett Johansson, Liam Neeson, and many others.
