Ayad Akhtar And Milwaukee Rep Plan World Premiere Of AMERICAN DERVISH

Wisconsin native Ayad Akhtar, winner of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and newly elected Milwaukee Rep trustee, and Artistic Director Mark Clements will adapt Akhtar's critically acclaimed first novel American Dervish for the stage to make its World Premiere at Milwaukee Repertory Theater in an upcoming season as part of the John (Jack) D. New Play Development Program. The Rep's multi-year exploration of Akhtar's work, including The Invisible Hand (2015/16), Disgraced (2016/17), The Who & The What (2017/18) and the upcoming regional premiere of his new Broadway play Junk in the 2018/19 65th Anniversary Season, have delighted audiences and reinforced The Rep's commitment to producing entertaining and thought-provoking world class theater.

Moses, starts its 44th season with the celebrated musical featuring the music of American Icon, Hank Williams, in Hank Williams: Lost Highway. Hank Williams: Lost Highway plays the Stark Stage at Riverside Theatre from October 24 through November 12, 2017.

Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 17th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 10. This year's 106.7 LITE FM'S Broadway in Bryant Park is presented by Aruba Tourism Authority, Lufthansa and Toyota.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater Artistic Director Mark Clements and Managing Director Chad Bauman are pleased to announce the 2017/18 Season with 13 productions in four venues spanning September 2017 - May 2018. With the start of the 2017/18 Season both Artistic Director Mark Clements and Managing Director Chad Bauman will renew their contracts with Milwaukee Rep for an additional four and six years respectively. Artistic Director Mark Clements began his tenure at Milwaukee Rep in 2010 by introducing a musical into the Quadracci Powerhouse season, creating the New Play Development program, and adapting and directing the world premiere production of A Christmas Carol this past December. With this contract renewal through 2021 he will continue his commitment to presenting world class works on all three stages. Managing Director Chad Bauman came to The Rep in 2013 and will continue through 2023 per his contract renewal. In his time here he has implemented a fruitful strategic business model that supports the theater's artistic vision with a focus on quality, inclusion, citizenship, innovation, and stability.
