Broken Fourth Presents PROOF at Stackhouse Theater, Now thru 8/11

Tonight, August 9 through the 11th, local theatre company Broken Fourth will present David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, Proof, in the Stackhouse Theater in Elrod Commons at Washington and Lee University.

Tickets have now been released for individual sale for Tick, tick... BOOM! The rock musical is an autobiographical tale of a young composer on the brink of turning 30 and falling into oblivion. Three actors portray ten characters through fourteen songs to take the audience on the playwright/composer's journey that ignited an interest in Jonathan Larson's work and ultimately led to Broadway sensation, RENT. Larson originally began performing the piece as a solo work in 1990. Following his death in 1996, playwright David Auburn revised the work and adapted it for three actors. It opened Off-Broadway in 2001.

Berkshire Theatre Group presents Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-Winning play Anna Christie at the Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Opening Night is August 24 at 8pm. Preview performances begin on August 20 at 8pm and the production closes August 31 at 8pm.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the World Premiere of 'Oblivion,' a provocative new play about parents and teenagers, and the gulf that often exists between them, by Carly Mensch, writer for Showtime's 'Nurse Jackie' and 'Weeds,' and directed by Mark Brokaw, currently represented on Broadway with 'Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella.' The coming-of-age comedy-drama runs from August 20 through September 8.

The Board of Trustees of George Street Playhouse have announced the appointment of Kelly Ryman as Managing Director, effective immediately. Ms. Ryman, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Playhouse since September, 2000, had been serving as Acting Managing Director since January 2013.

Classic Theatre to Move Into Woodlawn Black Box Theatre, Jan 2014

The Classic Theatre of San Antonio has signed a letter of intent for residency in the Black Box at the Woodlawn Theatre, 1920 Fredricksburg Road, beginning January, 2014. The Woodlawn was originally opened in 1946 and is designated by The City of San Antonio as an historic structure with its beautifully restored 350-seat proscenium theater. The 100-seat Black Box Theater was added during recent renovations.
