Sierra Stages begins its sixth season of presenting quality theatre in western Nevada County with the landmark musical comedy COMPANY by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth. Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, COMPANY plays from tonight, February 27 through March 22 at the historic Nevada Theatre in Nevada City.

Playing on Air, which presents readings of short plays by prominent, contemporary American playwrights for a national audience via public radio and the Internet, inaugurates a new initiative next month. On consecutive Mondays in March, Playing on Air presents its first plays for radio broadcast taped in front of live audiences.

The talk back series at Harold Pinter's acclaimed production of NO MAN'S LAND continues Thursday, February 13 with Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Billy Crudup, Shuler Hensley and moderator Christian Parker (Associate Artistic Director at the Atlantic Theater Company). After the performance of NO MAN'S LAND Parker and the actors will discuss Harold Pinter's play and answer audience questions about the production and the acclaimed repertory season. The ticketed audience for each performance is welcome to stay, free of charge, for the talk back. A ticket is required for the performance.

Unorganized Crime, LLC presents a world premiere play, UNORGANIZED CRIME, written by Kenny D'Aquila, directed by David Fofi and starring Chazz Palminteri ("A Bronx Tale," "Bullets Over Broadway"). UNORGANIZED CRIME will preview on Saturday, April 26 at 8pm; Monday, April 28, Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30 at 8pm and will open on Thursday, May 1 at 7pm and run through Sunday, May 25 at the Elephant Theatre, 1076 N. Often, like the words on the page, the title gets changed in the process as well. Such is the case with the third play in George Street Playhouse's 2013-14 season: Assisted Living by husband and wife team Paul Dooley and Winnie Holzman. The new title is now One of Your Biggest Fans. Mr. Dooley and Ms. Holzman will trod the boards in New Brunswick beginning today, January 28 through February 23 in the dual role of authors as well as actors. Noted director Larry Biederman will helm the production.

Stephen Sondheim's landmark musical comedy "Company", J.M. Barrie's original version of the classic "Peter Pan" and the long-running Off Broadway musical "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" make up the three shows in Sierra Stages 6th Season beginning in February 2014. In addition, the nonprofit local theatre group will present David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Proof" for a limited run.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company today announced the inaugural Keen Playwrights Lab. Under the leadership of Mark Armstrong, Keen's Director of New Work, each playwright will be developing a new full-length play inspired by Keen Company's mission - sincere story telling with heart, honesty and hope. The collaborative and supportive environment brings together three acclaimed American playwrights in mid-career to develop new work and facilitate that work's exposure to a greater audience. Sundance Institute today announced the seven artists selected for its 2014 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation. The 15th annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, WY takes place February 3-21. Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Playwrights Retreat is made possible through the generosity of Ucross Foundation.

The romantic comedy Parfumerie, adapted by E.P. Dowdall from the Hungarian playIllatszertar by Miklos Laszlo, will have a rare revival as the first theater production of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (Lou Moore, Executive Director), for a limited, 29 performance engagement November 26 to December 22. The production, directed by Mark Brokaw, who is currently represented on Broadway with Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, centers on a romance that unfolds through love letters, a perfect homage to the historic Beverly Hills Post Office.
