Patrick Prebula, Eben K. Logan & Cory Jones to Star in Red Branch's TICK, TICK… BOOM!

Tickets have now been released for individual sale for Tick, tick... BOOM! The rock musical is an autobiographical tale of a young composer on the brink of turning 30 and falling into oblivion. Three actors portray ten characters through fourteen songs to take the audience on the playwright/composer's journey that ignited an interest in Jonathan Larson's work and ultimately led to Broadway sensation, RENT. Larson originally began performing the piece as a solo work in 1990. Following his death in 1996, playwright David Auburn revised the work and adapted it for three actors. It opened Off-Broadway in 2001.

Red Branch Theatre Company's production of Tick, tick... BOOM! features both familiar faces and new talent. Starring as Jon, the character modeled after Jonathan Larson, is Patrick Prebula of Gaithersburg. Patrick was most recently the male understudy for Red Branch's [title of show] earlier this season. Tick, tick... BOOM! marks his first time on the Red Branch stage. Red Branch Company Member Cory Jones of Stevensville plays Michael and various others. He was most recently featured as a Bad Idea Bear in last season's production of Avenue Q, and served as lighting designer for this season's production of [title of show]. Finally, Eben K. Logan of Rockville plays Susan and various others. She is completely new to the organization, and this production marks her Red Branch debut. Jennifer Spieler directs and Wil Lewis, III music directs the approaching show. Ms. Spieler's previous Red Branch credits include Proof,Pinocchio, Web of Deceit (in conjunction with the Baltimore Playwrights' Festival) and Hansel and Gretel. Mr. Lewis most recently music directed Red Branch'sNext to Normal, and was featured as Gary Coleman in last season's Avenue Q.

Rehearsals are currently underway for the upcoming production. "The cast has been very collaborative in their thoughts on the show, but also open to suggestion," shares director Jennifer Spieler. "Also, I must say the three of them get along together very well - they're very respectful of each other but also crack jokes often. I've never seen three performers (who didn't know each other previously) flow so well together so quickly. It's been a nice surprise."
