Michael Feinstein Extends Contract with Pasadena POPS Through 2016

Pasadena Symphony Association President Diane Rankin and Chief Executive Officer Paul Jan Zdunek today announced the extension of Principal Pops Conductor Michael Feinstein's contract through 2016. His current contract was for a 1-year term, but fresh off the heels with rave reviews for his conducting debut to capacity crowds on June 1st, the leadership of the Pasadena Symphony Association immediately offered Feinstein a multi-year contract extension. The decision represents a confident commitment to Feinstein and support for his vision for the Pasadena POPS Summer Concert Series at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden.

KINKY BOOTS to Replace General Rush Policy with Lottery, Begin. 7/9

Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today that Kinky Boots, this year's Tony Award-winning Best Musical, has implemented a new lottery ticket policy, following the show's recent record-breaking weeks at the box office. Beginning Tuesday, July 9, a general ticket lottery will replace the previous general rush policy (for which many fans began sleeping outside the theater to be first in line when the box office opened). Lottery entries will be accepted outside the Al Hirschfeld Theatre box office (302 West 45th Street) beginning two and a half hours prior to each performance, and names will be drawn at random, for a limited number of $37 tickets, two hours before curtain time. Michael Feinstein's MGM Movie Classics on Saturday, July 13 features rare and stunning arrangements from the golden age of the silver screen, and the orchestra will be joined by guest vocalists Ron Raines, Christine Ebersole, the cast of Hollywood Revisited, and the Debbie Allen Dance Academy Tap Ensemble.

This morning, the Supreme Court declared that legislation which says marriage must be between a man and a woman is unconstitutional, thus allowing homosexual couples to receive the same benefits as heterosexual couples. The Court also struck down California's Proposition 8. The decision comes after the Court held hearings about the legality of the state's gay marriage ban in March. The decision will now allow gay marriage to resume in California, however it does not legalize it in other states. The cast of Kinky Boots took the show's message to heart and celebrated today's news backstage. Check out their creation below!
