On Dec. 3 Sony Masterworks will release the companion soundtrack to NBC's live broadcast of 'The Sound of Music,' based on the classic stage musical. The three-hour live production, starring six-time Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood as Maria von Trapp, will air Dec. 5. This week the team is recording THE SOUND OF MUSIC cast album. In today's Billboard.com, country music star Carrie Underwood spoke about her upcoming starring role in NBC's live broadcast of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

NBC has confirmed that it will submit the highly anticipated live TV presentation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic family-friendly musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC for Golden Globe and Screen Actor's Guild Award consideration for this calendar year, airing just four days shy of the nomination submission deadline.

Tony Award-winner and vocalist Audra McDonald is coming to Houston tonight, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. in the Brown Theater at the Wortham Theater Center, presented by Society for the Performing Arts. Accompanying her on stage will be Houston native Andy Einhorn.

According to an Equity casting notice, On the Town might be heading back to Broadway. Casting will soon take place for a developmental lab on December 8-19, with an anticipated Broadway revival in early 2014. The project will feature direction by John Rando, who also helmed a 2008 Encores production, and choreography by Josh Bergasse.

In an interview posted on today's Billboard.com, 5-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald spoke about her upcoming role on NBC's live broadcast of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

Tony Yazbeck will join the previously announced Christian Borle in Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh's Little Me, the opening production of New York City Center Encores! series, running for seven performances, February 5 - 9, 2014. Joshua Bergasse will choreograph the production, along with the previously announced Director John Rando and Music Director Rob Berman.
