NBC has confirmed that it will submit the highly anticipated live TV presentation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic family-friendly musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC for Golden Globe and Screen Actor's Guild Award consideration for this calendar year, airing just four days shy of the nomination submission deadline.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC stars country music superstar Carrie Underwood along with TRUE BLOOD's Stephen Moyer and a trio of Broadway heavyweights - Tony Award winners Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle - all of whom will also be eligible for awards consideration, as well.

NBC also confirmed that it will be submitting the live film presentation in the telefilm category, highlighting the ever-increasing crop of original films premiering on television in the 21st century.

Of note, the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations will be announced on December 11 and the Golden Globe Awards nominations will be announced on December 12.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC, directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and Rob Ashford, produced by Craig Zadan & Neil Meron, airs on December 5 at 8 PM on NBC.
