Billy Porter, 2013 Tony Award Winner for Best Actor in a Musical (Kinky Boots) surprised students of Broadway Artists Alliance Summer Intensive Session One with his appearance on July 25th. Porter entertained the students with tales of his experiences. In addition, he participated in a Q&A, answering student's questions and providing advice for young performers. Academy Award-winning DREAMGIRLS actress and international recording star Jennifer Hudson appeared for a short arc on the second season of the recently-cancelled NBC musical drama series SMASH and a new deleted scene featuring Hudson alongside some of the show's stars has now been released in anticipation of the forthcoming Season Two DVD set being released next week.

While the first and only Broadway-themed TV series on a major network thus far has unfortunately been cancelled by NBC following its second season, fans of the musical series SMASH now have their chance to ring in the new year - and every day of 2014 for that matter; and even beyond - with the characters of the cult show thanks to a new 2014 wall calendar now available to own.

Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert visited students at Broadway Artists Alliance Alumni Session to share his journey from young actor to Tony Award Winner. After recently announcing over 200 hours of original programming, Ovation, America's only arts network, has additionally acquired all episodes of critically acclaimed series SMASH from NBCUniversal Cable & New Media. Ovation will debut the series beginning tonight, July 19 at 8pm ET. The announcement was made today by Robert Weiss, Ovation's Chief Creative Officer.

New York City Center's 2013-14 season features an exciting lineup of dance, theater and music that begins with the 10th anniversary celebration of City Center's acclaimed Fall for Dance Festival. The Festival kicks off with two free dance performances at the Public Theater's Delacorte Theater in Central Park and continues at City Center with performances by 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world. The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's 2013 Season is the year Broadway and Hollywood meet with all of the productions at the theatre being hits both on the silver screen and Great White Way. The season kicked off with the funny and heartwarming Steel Magnolias, followed by Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 - The Musical. Beginning today, June 14th, the theatre is going pink when it opens Legally Blonde for its summer run.

Sunday's series finale of SMASH scored a 0.5 in the Adults 18-49 demographic, an increase of 25 percent from a 0.4 for its most recent episode on May 11. Overall the episode delivered 2.43 million viewers.

NBC lowers the curtain on SMASH with the series finale tonight, May 26. In anticipation of the show's closing night, Executive Producer Marc Shaiman wrote an in-depth send-off titled 'Goodbye, Norma Jean,' detailing what worked and what didn't throughout the series' two-season history.
