Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College will open its 60th Anniversary Season with a concert by 10-time Grammy winner Bobby McFerrin on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 8pm. Best known for the global number one hit 'Don't Worry Be Happy,' Mr. McFerrin is a percussive, improvisational genius who has stirred audiences through the years with the sounds of the voice box, fusing into his work dozens of different languages and cultures from all over the world. It was a night to remember as the Oakland Youth Chorus (OYC) took to the risers and promptly raised the roof on the 1st Presbyterian Church on Broadway in Oakland, belting out some amazing Broadway tunes and putting on an all-around great show for the sold-out crowd. This was not just a concert for doting parents and dewy-eyed devotees. These kids can sing! The performances from the many choral groups that comprise OYC were impressive and fun and definitely high-energy entertainment. (more...)

This year's lineup includes 60th Anniversary Season opener Bobby McFerrin, a holiday concert by Sweet Honey in the Rock, South Africa's Lady Smith Black Mambazo, a tribute to Woody Guthrie by the Klezmatics, a cappella superstars Take 6, and Eddie Palmieri performing with his Latin Jazz Septet.
