WOW - Women of the World and Birkbeck, University of London's Sexual Harms and Medical Encounters (SHaME) project have announced the initial line-up for the inaugural Shameless! Festival of Activism Against Sexual Violence, a one-day in person event and digital programme bringing together activism and art to confront and change attitudes towards sexual violence, share ideas, and imagine a rape free world. 

From 6 to 10 October, choreographer James Cousins takes over the quirky maze of spaces of Battersea Arts Centre, turning the iconic building into a festival, a nightclub and a stage with his first large-scale immersive show, We Are As Gods.

The Yard's autumn season will include two new theatre premieres by emerging and established artists; ATHENA by Gracie Gardner will open the season, providing a platform for director Grace Gummer following her National Theatre Women of Tomorrow Directors Award.

Consisting of like-minded colleagues stemming from the European Union Youth Orchestra, Her Ensemble brings together some of the most in-demand orchestral and chamber musicians in the UK, reinventing the classical concert experience and canon of classical music as we know it.

FFDN will present its largest festival line-up to date, showcasing a hybrid mix of electrifying in-person performances and original digital content for its local and global audience, including the world premiere of 10 festival commissions. 

Battersea Arts Centre (BAC) announces today that it will support the commissioning and rollout of innovative and thrilling new cultural projects around the capital for families, young audiences, tourists and local residents to enjoy throughout the October half-term (Saturday 23 - Sunday 31 October 2021).

Toronto's premier international dance festival Fall for Dance North has announced its seventh edition from Sept. 11-Oct. 29, 2021. FFDN will present its largest festival line-up to date, showcasing a hybrid mix of electrifying in-person performances and original digital content for its local and global audience, including the world premiere of 10 festival commissions.

This October choreographer James Cousins invites audiences to immerse themselves in an electric club atmosphere at Battersea Arts Centre.  A diverse cast of 70, featuring some of the UK's most exciting dance talent, will perform powerful group dances and intimate duets in the iconic venue's maze of quirky spaces.

Created & performed by multidisciplinary artist & actor Heather Agyepong, The Body Remembers features interviews of Black British women in trauma recovery.

OverCome is a collection of shows about being bold and working towards a unified future. Tickets are now available to friends and members, with booking open to the public from 10am on Friday 6 August

Double Murder is a thrilling new double bill by internationally celebrated choreographer Hofesh Shechter, presented as two distinctly contrasting pieces for our times – Clowns and The Fix.  The production will open to press at Sadler's Wells on Wednesday 15 September prior to an international tour before returning to play at HOME in Manchester in June (dates tbc) with further UK dates to be announced.

Nine new, tour-ready, performance works are to be presented in a range of digital settings, alongside seven new projects, supported as part of a 'residency' programme, which enables artists to play with new performance ideas across a range of formats and genres.

Building upon the success of a number of smaller initiatives in Nine Elms and Roehampton, a group of arts and cultural organisations from across the borough of Wandsworth came together to discuss how they could support and inspire young people and their families to get creative during lockdown. 

Bloomberg Philanthropies today announced the launch of the Digital Accelerator Program to help cultural non-profit organizations stabilize and thrive in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic through strategic improvements to their technology infrastructure.

The world stage premiere of The Magician's Elephant will run in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from Thursday 14 October 2021 to Saturday 1 January 2022 with press night on Tuesday 26 October 2021. Learn more about the production here!

Writer Reuben Johnson's new re-imagining of this classic tale will take place outdoors in the beautiful gardens of the Actor's Church and features spoken word, original songs and is led by a cast of actor-musicians. Arthur/Merlin will run from 4 August – 22 August.  

Performers include Nabil Abdulrashid (The Guardian's Top 10 Comedy Shows 2020, ITV's Britain's Got Talent); Fern Brady (Power and Chaos and Sounds of Misfortune for the BBC); Ivo Graham (BBC's Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week); and Shaparak Khorsandi (BBC's QI, ITV's I'm A Celebrity…, Shappi Talk for BBC Radio 4).

Lekan has previously worked at the Derby Theatre (Regional Theatre Young Director's Scheme) Old Vic (Old Vic 12), and the Young Vic, and has held positions including Resident Director on Hamilton and Co-Artistic Director (Up Next) at Battersea Arts Centre.
