12 Days of Christmas with Norm Lewis: Andy Williams Sings of the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
by Norm Lewis - Dec 14, 2019

Andy Williams was a staple in our house growing up. He had those great Christmas specials every year on NBC and they always made you feel cozy and special and spirited. Great sets, costumes, sketches and terrific music. It was traditional, and he always wore great sweaters. Needless to say, all of this made me want to have a traditional-looking cover for my first Christmas album. All the stars used to sing the same handful of songs, but it was the arrangements that made them stick in your brain. No matter what he sang, I was always happy to see and hear Andy Williams. This song is a particular favorite- 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.'

In the conversation that follows he talks in depth about both. Tell our readers about your Christmas show. Is this the first time you have done one at Christmas? SD: This is my first official Christmas show! Of course, as a singer, I have been hired many times over the past years to sing for different Christmas and holiday events. And I have always absolutely loved getting to sing these timeless, gorgeous songs. I have always wanted to create a holiday show. And the inspiration for it has been watching those classic Christmas specials of Perry Como, Andy Williams, The Carpenters, etc. No matter how many times I watch those specials during the holidays, it just feels like they are each effortlessly transporting me with them into the cozy comfort of their living rooms.a?? And I wanted to create a show that would honor that feeling that we all get and just help take people

Charleene Closshey Releases New Christmas Album CHRISTMASTIME IS HERE
by Sarah Jae Leiber - Dec 6, 2019

Time Is Here is a lushly orchestrated album produced by six-time Grammy award winner Brent Maher. Maher is Nashville based and has worked with everyone from Elvis to Willie Nelson to The Judds. In fact he discovered The Judds. Time Is Here is like those old school records – think Andy Williams – it has a little something for everyone: the title track is the Vince Guaraldi theme from “A Charlie Brown ;” Charleene reinterpreted the classic hymn “Ave Maria” and recorded it with the Boys' Choir of Sofia (Bulgaria); and there is the spirited carol that celebrates her Irish-American heritage, “ in Killarney.”

BWW Interview: BroadwayWorld Award Nominee D Scott Eads Talks Nomination and CHRISTMASTIME
by Don Grigware - Nov 26, 2019

Singer D Scott Eads was just nominated for a BroadwayWorld Award for his phenomenal show Shake the House presented at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal in September. In our conversation he talks about his nomination and his upcoming show Christmastime in the Key of Bing this coming Sunday December 1, once again at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal. How does it feel to be nominated for a BWW Award? It's very validating and gratifying to be recognized in this nomination, so it feels great! I have had a very busy year crafting and launching three different shows from three different eras and categories of music - with great audience response for each - and it's helped me grow in many ways. Without being cliche, it has been quite a journey. I really challenged myself on many levels and was also dealt some unexpected challenges but all-in-all, everything I've been through has been a growth

BWW Previews: Tony Award Winner Jay Johnson Will Headline 'Jay Johnson & Friends (Real And Imaginary)' at The Moss Theatre
by Valerie-Jean Miller - Nov 1, 2019

One Performance Only! This Sunday, November 3, 2019! Long ago but not far away at all, there were many TV Variety Shows, Award Ceremonies, Music Centers and Theatre abounding with live Musical Performances, all with massive budgets; and dancers in this town, Los Angeles, made a darn good living, albeit having to work their asses off to do so, but it was a good and plentiful, fulfilling life. Besides myself, there was a plethora of working, professional dancers who ended up bonding together pretty easily, as a dancer's life is one of a nomad, or gypsy, going from one job to another, but in doing so, finding kindred spirits and lifelong connections. Jay Johnson, husband of one of these dancers and artistically gifted himself, was part of the artistic community, as was his wife, Sandi, and, typical with dancers, became close friends and comrades with other dancers, choreographers, and like-minded performers. As Jay was earning international fame as a ventriloquist, actor and comedian, and starring on the hit TV Series 'Soap,' us dancers were slaving away, happy to be able to make a living doing what we loved. Jay is best known for his role on ' Soap' as Chuck Campbell, a ventriloquist who believed his puppet Bob was real and demanded everyone treat Bob as human.
