Official: THE KING AND I Coming Back to Broadway in Spring 2015; Kelli O'Hara to Lead?

A Lincoln Center Theater representative has confirmed that the musical will indeed arrive on Broadway next year. Casting has not yet been announced, though Rodgers and Hammerstein veteran Kelli O'Hara, who is currently starring in The Bridges of Madison County, has long been rumored to lead the revival.

Just last night, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II were celebrated in Lyrics & Lyricists' Getting to Know You at the 92nd Street Y. At the special event head of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization Ted Chapin, who was also acting as Guest artistic director and host, shared that one of the duo's most beloved musicals, The King and I, will be brought back to the stage by Lincoln Center Theatre in Spring 2015. An official announcement has not yet been made.

What follows was a miracle-Oklahoma!, then Carousel and South Pacific; the list of extraordinary hits goes on. Tonight, April 5 and April 6 and 7 get to know these legends even better at Getting to Know You: Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lyrics & Lyricists first look at the two songwriters as a team. Guest artistic director, writer and host Ted Chapin, head of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, shares an insider's perspective on the pair, gleaned from his years with the Rodgers and Hammerstein families; joined by vocalists Lewis Cleale, Mandy Gonzalez, Jonathan Groff, Rebecca Luker, and Phillipa Soo.

Deborah Voigt Coming to Bing Concert Hall, 4/11

This month, Deborah Voigt embarks on a spring recital tour that will place the superstar soprano on both coasts for a program of songs by Amy Beach, Leonard Bernstein, William Bolcom, Ben Moore, Richard Strauss and Tchaikovsky. She said of the recital repertoire: 'It gives me a chance to show a side of my personality that doesn't come out when I'm singing all these very serious heroines' (South Florida Classical Review). Joined by her long-time collaborative pianist, Brian Zeger, artistic director of the vocal arts department at Juilliard, Voigt launches her new tour at the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert, California, on April 8. She makes her debut at Stanford University's Bing Concert Hall on April 11, and on April 13 she sings at the new Green Music Center on the Sonoma State University campus. Voigt continues the tour on the East Coast with a return engagement in the 75th anniversary season of Boston's popular Celebrity Series, and on May 10 she returns to the Met to host the 'Live in HD' broadcast of Rossini's La Cenerentola.

Transient Glory to Host Spotlight on Composer Missy Mazzoli, 4/25

Transient Glory, the Young People's Chorus of New York City's groundbreaking, 21st-century commissioning series of choral music for young people, returns with a Composer Spotlight on Missy Mazzoli on Friday, April 25, at 8 p.m. at the 92nd Street Y. Conducted by YPC Artistic Director and Founder Francisco J. Nuñez, the evening focuses on a musical world of Missy Mazzoli. It encompasses an entire evening of premieres of specially selected music from Missy's acclaimed collection of genre-bending works interpreted, set, and adapted for the first time for an ensemble of young voices and Victoire, Missy's all-female band. It also includes the world premiere of a new YPC Transient Glory commission, New New York Songs.

Patrick Rains presents the critically acclaimed New York premiere of My Mother Has 4 Noses, a musical play written and performed by renowned singer/songwriter Jonatha Brooke and directed by Jeremy B. Cohen. My Mother Has 4 Noses began previews Off-Broadway on February 14th and opened on Thursday, February 20, 2014. The limited engagement will play through Saturday, April 19th at The Duke on 42nd Street, 'a New 42nd Street project' (located at 229 W 42nd Street, between 7th & 8th Avenues).

New York Philharmonic to Return to Bravo! Vail for 12th Annual Summer Residency, 7/18-25

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 12th- annual summer residency there, performing six concerts July 18-25, 2014. Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct three programs, July 18-20, featuring works by composers for whom he has advocated during his tenure, ranging from Nielsen to The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in- Residence Christopher Rouse. The other Philharmonic concerts will be conducted by Bramwell Tovey (July 23 and 25) and Ted Sperling (July 24), and will feature works by Copland, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Loesser, among others.

The chamber music concert co-presented with 92nd Street Y featuring The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman, originally scheduled for March 30, has been postponed to Friday, May 23, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. at 92nd Street Y at Mr. Bronfman's request, due to an unforeseen scheduling issue. Tickets originally issued for March 30 will be honored on May 23.

This season's New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts (YPCs) conclude with a focus on Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1, led by Philharmonic Assistant Conductor Joshua Weilerstein and featuring pianist Paul Lewis, Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. This is the final program in this season's series, Points of Entry, in which each concert explores facets of music and the orchestra itself through one influential score. The concert will also feature Brahms's Hungarian Dance No. 1 and Ritual Fire Dance from Falla's El Amor brujo.

Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater Foundation, has announced that for its 2014 Spring Gala, the organization will honor David Herro and Jay Franke for their extraordinary support of American dance and, especially, arts education. The Joyce's Gala will take place on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center on Tuesday April 22 at 6pm. The black-tie event, celebrating The Joyce's commitment to arts education, will include cocktails, dinner, dancing and special performances by Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Jessica Lang Dance, doug elkins choreography Etc., Momix and the talented young performers of Dancing Classrooms Youth Dance Company.
