Progressive Theater will present the culmination of its Professional Arts Outreach Bridge Program with a community production of the musical, THE COLOR PURPLE.

HAIRSPRAY THE MUSICAL is given a Sydney Revival over two decades after Jack O’Brien (Original Director) and Jerry Mitchell’s (Original Choreographer) original multi Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Laurence Olivier Award Winning production opened on Broadway. 

Once in awhile a musical comes along that strikes the right chord. Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech pianist Marketa Irglova collaborated on a stage version of the 2007 film by John Carney. This deceptively simple story won a Tony Award for Best Book by Enda Walsh along with 7 more wins out of 11 Tony nominations in 2012, including Best Musical, Best Orchestration, and Best Direction. Its most familiar song, 'Falling Slowly,' won an Academy Award and the cast album captured a Grammy.

Once will open Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at the Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP). The show will run in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre from Feb. 28 through March 22. Performances will be held Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

A staged reading of Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson will be held at the Omaha Community Playhouse as part of the Alternative Programming series Monday, October 31 at 8:00 p.m. in OCP's Howard Drew Theatre. The showing is free and open to the public with the opportunity for donation. No tickets or reservations are necessary. This staged reading will have a later start time than usual due to Halloween activities.

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival 2016 opens its 84th annual season with exciting contemporary dance company Aspen Santa Fe Ballet presenting a diverse program, June 22-26 in the Ted Shawn Theatre. Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is dually-based in New Mexico and Colorado and led by Artistic Director Tom Mossbrucker and Executive Director Jean-Philippe Malaty. As part of their annual Summer at the Playhouse series in July, which this year also included Joey Luft and Mary Bridget Davies, Pasadena Playhouse hosted Henson Alternative's Puppet Up! Uncensored for 3 nights only. Music, Mayhem, Madness was promised and certainly delivered with six puppeteers, comic host Patrick Bristow - and at least 50 puppets centerstage. The show is audience friendly; in fact, in a couple of scenarios, audience members are invited on stage to participate in what appears to be a spontaneously imagined set.
