Young People's Theatre (YPT) is excited to present the world premiere of A Million Billion Pieces - a moving story of love directed by one of Canada's most celebrated actors and directors, Philip Akin (Artistic Director, Obsidian Theatre). In this bold new production, two teens are isolated by a rare disease that could prove deadly if they make contact. Craving connection, they progress from flirty DMs to a precarious encounter, each with their own reason to test what it is to live a?' and love a?' like other people. It will be presented in the Studio from November 25 to December 13, 2019, for ages 13 and up.

ITSAZOO presents the Western Canadian Premiere of David James Brock's award-winning drama, WET, May 8-27, 2018 in the basement of The Russian Hall. Chelsea Haberlin directs this thought-provoking tale of love, abandonment, and the human cost of war. Following the story of a Canadian soldier who returns to her husband and young daughter after a tour in Afghanistan, WET delves into the mental and emotional repercussions of combat on those who serve; and examines the spill over effects on those they love. Audiences will grapple with important and timely questions in an immersive and intimate setting, thereby amping up the work's already unflinching intensity.

Tapestry Opera's exciting recent momentum continues this spring with another world premiere, ROCKING HORSE WINNER, commissioned in partnership with Scottish Opera. This modern adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's masterful short story-an intimate psychological look at love, luck and greed-comes to life with a libretto by Dora Mavor Moore Award-winning playwright Anna Chatterton and music by Irish-Scottish composer Gareth Williams. Punk and operatic virtuosity collide in Tapestry Opera's latest exploration of opera evolution. Members of the Polaris Prize-winning art-rock punk band f**kED UP join two of Canada's most masterful and versatile opera singers, mezzo-sopranoKrisztina Szabo and tenor David Pomeroy, for TAP:EX METALLURGY. This venture is the latest installment in TAP:EX, a production series committed to radically redefining the future of opera. Directed and conceived by Tapestry's Artistic DirectorMichael Hidetoshi Mori, the provocative series is now in its third year.
