Casting has been announced for week one of The Blank Theatre's 31st Annual Young Playwrights Festival. The first three of 12 winning plays by young playwrights aged 15–19 will be presented, for the first time since 2019, live on stage July 6–9.

Co-producers Jessica Winward and Robert Paterno will present a staged reading of Will Brumley's The Clinic on Monday, July 15, to raise funds for American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Southern California - https:aclusocal.org - and the Women's Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP) - https:wrap.org.

Born out of the need to give undiscovered actors a platform to showcase their work during the competitive Emmy awards season, actress/producer Meredith Thomas is once again hosting the FYC Independents Screenings, formerly FYC US Independents on Friday, May 31 at the Van Nuys/Reseda Elks Lodge in Van Nuys, California. The event benefits the Elks' local charity initiatives.

More than 50 actors have been set to participate in The Blank Theatre's 25th Anniversary Young Playwrights Festival, including Michael Grant Terry (Bones, NCIS, Grimm, CSI), Janina Gavankar (The Mysteries of Laura, The Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy), Lenny Jacobson (Nurse Jackie, Frequency, Big Time in Hollywood, FL), and Jennifer Stone (Wizards of Waverly Place). Twelve winning plays by young playwrights aged 17, 18, and 19 from six different states will be presented during this year's festival at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, running from June 1-25.

Los Angeles playwright Marlan Warren's play, Chasing Sangha, has been selected for Athena Cats' New Works Festival of 10-Minute Plays, and will be performed as a staged reading Sat., April 8, at the City Garage in Santa Monica's Bergamot Station Arts Center.

Inner Circle Theatre Company explores the essence of love in its debut production, R+J EQUAL LOVE, directed by Casey Kringlen and adapted by Kringlen and Liz Nolan. In two acts, each slightly less than an hour, they tell the love story of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet twice, with two women in the title roles in the first act and two men in the roles in the second.

Inner Circle Theatre has announced that R + J Equal Love, a new same-sex exploration of William Shakespeare's classic love story Romeo and Juliet has been set for six performances only at The Well in downtown Los Angeles. Co-adapted by Casey Kringlen and Liz Nolan and directed by Kringlen, the limited run will open on Friday, February 14 at 9pm and continue on Saturday 2/15, Sunday 2/16, Thursday 2/20, Friday 2/21 and Saturday 2/22 with all performances at 8pm.

James Hardy, who served as a producer on more than forty Bob Hope television specials (including the iconic USO shows) offered patrons a unique staged reading experienced of a new production entitled, "The Big Woop."

The Blank Theatre's world premiere production of Sukie & Sue: Their Story by Michael John LaChiusa, directed by Kirsten Sanderson, was developed last year in The Blank's Living Room Series. Sukie & Sue: Their Story is the only play ever written by LaChiusa, who has received five Tony Award nominations for his musicals. Sukie & Sue: Their Story began previews on April 21, and opening is set for tonight, April 28 at 8pm. The engagement will run through Sunday, June 3.
