Berkshire Native Returns To Present Dance Work At Turnpark
Berkshire native and dancer Gina Bashour, praised by the New York Times as a 'powerhouse,' returns home to the Berkshires this summer as choreographer to premiere a site-specific dance performance entitled Unraveled, presented by TurnPark Art Space in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. With a strong ensemble of performers, the work weaves together themes and imagery from the fable of Rumpelstiltskin with a current look at the relationships of men and women and the community around them. The performance, suitable for all ages, is being presented on August 25 and 26, 2018, at noon and 3:00 p.m. and is included with admission to TurnPark ($15/adult; $12 for students and seniors; free for TurnPark members and children under 12).

Bruce Arakelian and Tom Bodkin have been in a relationship for thirty years. Same Sex marriage is not legal in their home state of North Carolina so Arakelian decided to surprise Bodkin with a flash mob proposal in Times Square on Friday morning, and Bodkin said, 'yes!' A November wedding is planned at the Manhattan Penthouse of Broadway producers, Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley. Carole will be the officiant and Leah Lane is the couple's Best Person. BROADWAY BARES 23 Raises Record-Breaking $1.4 Million!
BROADWAY BARES 23: UNITED STRIPS OF AMERICA, a randy road trip of modern-day burlesque featuring 220 of New York's sexiest dancers, raised an all-time record high for the fourth year in a row on Sunday, hitting $1,430,241 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The Group Theatre Too (GTT) recently presented its sixth annual Choreographer's Canvas, a one-night event featuring the works of over fifteen established and emerging choreographers from around the country. The Canvas, headed by GTT Executive Producer Justin Boccitto, played at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center on Saturday May 18th and showcased many styles of dance including tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, theatre dance, aerial and this year swing dance. For the past 6 years the Canvas has presented over 65 choreographers, giving opportunity to over 450 dancers performing to sold houses. Check out photos from the event below!
